'06 Datona blue 350Z touring edition auto. The celica was just not doing it for me anymore so I traded the Celica in Friday. I was going to hold off until late summer or so, but I got a good APR and they were willing to come up on my Celica to 12,500. That isn't much different from selling it outright so I went for it. Only mod I have thought of so far is to tint the windows, haven't thought of much more than that since it's a nice car as it sits.
Any good 350z forums out there?

good job bro, i will be joining you in a couple of weeks. The Nissan dealer has my celica as we speak. I will be getting either the daytona blue or silverstone 06 350z. Mine is 6speed though. Good forum is my350z.com

i have 63k on mine. I drive a 5 speed gt. They said i will be getting 13k for mine. The dealer said my car is in excellent condition all around. Paint is good and all of that. The dealer also said a lot of ricers come in and try to trade in their car which they woudln't even take since no one will be intrested in it. I left it their so a special person can look at it carefully and drive it to see how much it's worth. :p:
Btw, i'm parting out now.

for the guy from VA Beach, what year celica was it and how many miles? How much did you pay for your 350z. Thinking about doing the same.

They give me more trade-in $ for my mods, +$700 which consisted of i/e oil pressure and o2 a/f gauge, clear gas lid, and a Celica front emblem. I might have made a little more parting out but what a hustle swapping them. My car had some small things that most of you might have picked out but in general it was in excellent condition.
I do have a few stock parts I need to dump including the old engine. I'll most likely post them in the 4sale forum and what doesn't sell post on eBay.

Celica was a 2000 gt-s carbon blue. I had 56k on the od but 42k on the engine, which was just replaced this last fall. I didn't tell them anything about the car other than it was a great car!
The z I got for around 34k

is that 34k with financing and tax fees? If not, that's expensive for a touring edition.

Yes that includes everything including a 6 yr maint package and gap ins. It also has some opt like the floor mats, cargo pkg, alum kick plates, splash guards. I think I could have got them down more but to tell you the truth they were wearing me down after 3 hours of haggling I was getting tired. Without going into details I feel I got a fair deal.

3 hours is fast for a new car. When my sister got a new car, more like 6-8 hours. Damn, you could of gotten the floor amts, cargo pkg, alum kickplates and splash guard for free. The people at Nissan are looking for a free pair of brembo brakes all around to add in for free just buying the car with warranty. Thats' the nice thing of buying a new car, all the things you can ask for free.

3 hours was just talking price and trade-in, I still spent another 3 working out the details and paperwork which I ended up going back to sales because they has some # wrong.

that's about right for a touring package, retail
I know at my dealership we didn't sell our Zs for less than retail - if you want below invoice you gotta buy a used one.

Nice. Im looking into a white 6 speed. Its a private sale that an older guy owns up the street from my friend. I've been bugging him for quite some time now and he said this summer he thinks he wants to sell it and buy something else. He told me if he decides to sell it he will let me know and give me as much time as I need before he lists it.
Although starting school in April and dropping down to part-time work will be a little more difficult.

Why do you need gap insurance? Didn't you use your trade in as a down?

im probably going to drive my celica for at least a year, then im thinking about buying an rx8 or some kind of sports sedan used. Im probably going to get the sedan thinking 02-03 maxima, g35 sedan, lexus is300, or something european.
i like the celica as a great daily driver, the 350 is such a bad ass car, nissan really did well with this and the g35 coupe. there isnt really anything id change about it, and the vq35 is imho one of the best V6's available.
good luck with your new car, congrats on the high trade in.

GAP Ins is if your car is totalled and your Insurance gives you less than you owe, the GAP Ins will pay of the remainder. GAP Ins and your trade in are not related in any way.

I think what JW was trying to say is that why do you need gap insurance if you basically put money (the car) down on the Z? If you put $10000 down on a car you should be ahead thus no need for gap insurance.
I think what is really going on here is the old dealer conference with the mysterious sales manager. He gave you 12,5 for your car, but they really just paid it off and will sell it for 15 - 17, or bone it out to some smaller lot. While they will make the 17 percent above list on the Z from you.
How much of a down payment did you have to give them for the Z?
Don't get me wrong now, I am happy for you, and I know how it is to get a new car, and I hope that you really enjoy it. But, just use this as a learning experience and let the dealer earn his money.

This is exactly what I meant. He should be ahead if he put $10K down.
