AntEnna QueStion?

I'm pretty car ignorant. I just bought my 17yr old son a 2000 Celica GT, but the radio doesn't work. Well, depending on where he is at the time. Sometimes the scan will find a station, but most of the time it doesn't. CD & Tape both work fine. There is a hole where the antenna comes out, but no antenna there. I don't see a switch anywhere inside the car that operates an electric antenna, so I assume it's manual. I haven't seen a newer car without a window antenna. I guess it is possible though that it's just one of those screw in ones, and someone just stole it.

Any Thought On This Subject? Am I missing something, or has it just been stolen?
