I haven't seen anyone put a camera on their car for security pourposes, but I have seen front and rear view camers installed for parallel parking etc.
why would you need a security camera on your car?

If your Satoshi lol
I seem to recall seeing one in the Appearance Mod section? It went to LCD in dash & was mounted somewhere near the rear license plate or lock.
There is also an alarm that has one that will snapshot to it's remote when your alarm goes off: http://www.asianwolf.com/item.jhtml?UCIDs=1068694|1068709&PRID=1539172

i have one on my truck, i put a cadillac license plate and reverse light assembly on the rear, and put a camera where hte key hole was, hooked it up to my tv so i can see when im reveresing, since i have a wall of stereo behind me, but they work real well, when its light out or if the sun isnt behind you

i mean as for a way to see who messes with your car? i thought about this but i cant really think of where to put a camera to "catch someone in the act"
Well... they don't do a 360 deal.... usually you would aim it towards the driver's side. So, you could put it low near the handbrake or up in the center console. Another location would be the passenger side A pillar pointing to the driver's seat/window (probably my choice).

meh...i dont see the point, if someone wanted to break in they would. camera's dont mean squat. he would probablt break it if he found it, and how would you have it linked to a motion sensor and a 24hr recorder? just doesnt seem feasible. you're driving a 25k sports car not a ferrari

You should take pride in whatever it is you drive... being a ferrari or a 25k sports car, I would treat my ferrari the same way i treat my celi...

Exactly!
Even if it was possible. that's just too much work in my opinion. First of all, you need an alternative source of power just to have that camera running/recording while you're away. Not only that, what are you going to use to record? You also need a motion detector just to have it start recording in case there is some sort of activity. Even having it record all night is just too much. Plus what is your means of monitoring or recording it? You're gonna have it record on a VCR? Computer? Just too much trouble in terms of having that type of security. There is a difference of being secure with your car and being too paranoid about the safety of your car.

Yea. But you dont spend 1/5 of the cars worth to secure you $400 headunit

I've actually been thinking about such a alarm system for years now. I drew up a whole schematic with multiple lenses activated by different motion sensors mounted in the vehicle. Basically it would snap pics based on motion. The trick would be to wire it to a cell phone rigged to send the photos to your personal mobile when the car alarm is tripped while being broken into. It's possible, if I had the time, equipment, and materials I'd attempt it.

The best vehicle security system is offered by MI6 and was effective in protecting the first Lotus (http://www.mi6.co.uk/sections/q-branch/lotusespritturbo1.php3?t=fyeo&s=fyeo) used by James Bond in For Your Eyes Only. Auto theft would be inverserly proportional to the quantity of these security systems.

if someone wanted to break in they would. True.
The best vehicle security system is offered by MI6 I prefer the American Claymore version.
