How to paint brake?

try doing a search. but basically, its very simple. remove wheel, and if you want, remove calipers. then use brake cleaner and remove dirt and dust from them. and spray or use a brush to put on the paint. add a few coats, letting it dry after each coat, and clear it if u want.

The link above is cool but I recommend removing the caliper completely. There is a guide to how to do that floating around somewhere. I would tell you but I don't really want to type it all out, plus I don't have pics. So, if anyone knows of the link of a place that shows how to remove the calipers completely in order to paint then please post it up for this guy. I highly recommend taking them off. You can only tape up so much.

Therea nothing to really tape off... Take your wheel off, insert masking paper undercaliper then cover rotor entirely. Mask off wheel well behind it if your messy and cant aim. Clean caliper real good with cleaner and let dry. Spray 2-3 coats. Done.

I would still recommend taking it off, it comes out much better. I don't care how good your aim is, the overall finished product will come out better if you take the calipers off.

1. Take off the calipers
2. clean it with brake cleaner..scrub if needed
3. rinse with warm water
4. Put on 3 light coats..letting it dry for 15 mins between coats.
5. Add any addtional coats if needed
6. (optional) 2 coats of clear coat
7. Let dry for about 2 hours (just to make sure its dry enough..cause you still gotta put them on)
8. Put cailpers back on
9. Sit back and have a beer. ;)

I think the problem is that the person doesn't know how to pull the calipers off. IMO it is easier to pull the calipers off than it is to tape everything up. Somebody has got to have a link explaining how to do this LOL. I don't want to type all of that.

I just popped a piece of newspaper over the lug studs and sprayed. the only overspray is line on the brake line

I dont know how to take mine off so i just cover the springs and walls and everything up before i started spraying. Came out even and nice. Gotta do em again cuz they are startin to chip after 2 years. This was the first mod i did to my car.

Taking off the caliper is pointless imo. I just put a piece of paper between the caliper and rotor and sprayed away. There isnt really a way to screw this up. Looks just like it did 3 years ago.

I dont bother spraying, so no taping needed. I just spray some paint into the plastic lid, and apply with a good quality modelling brush. The paint is too thin to leave brush marks, and I can get in all the nooks and crannys! VOILA!
