what do you all think of the Audi TT???
ive been doing a lot of reading on itl.
and im slowly falling in love with it.
the interior is top notch.
the turbo whooshes nicely
all wheel drive is nice
front wheel drive is fine too.
the seats are superb
the turbo makes it killer
and at 2655 lbs its hardly a porky bastard.
whats not to love? (besides the pricetag)

I had my best friends for 2 weeks and it was the most amazing car I have ever driven. The turbo kicks in real fast and it handles like a dream. I love the shift. I stalled it a few times the first time I drove it but, once I got used to it it was so easy. You couldnt mis-shift that car even if you wanted to. AWESOME RIDE!!!

ohhh... i rode in one and didn't like its suspension so much, turns corners etc.
i love that car... i was trying to push for the audi TT to my parents when i was choosing a car. then i saw the price tag and i said, "hey, the celicas are nice.."
oh well, i love the celica, but still wish for the TT.

Audi TT = Male version of the bettle. Shape wise.
The S4 kicks ass and the A4 is coo too but the rest of the Audi's are just too fugly for me.

agree to both points. I could care less how good it performs, it looks like a beetle on crack. No form, no cuts, just an egg shape. Not to mention the fact that every single owner I've ever met or come across is a pathetic worthless person with no personality whatsoever.
I'd get a blue or yellow S4 long before a gay ass TT.

the cars are great to begin with... then if you have any problems you are screwed... especially if out of warranty... they start have electrical probs same time as VWs... right around 60k... no warranty... then good luck finding someone besides the dealer to work on it... and if they do... youll have to sell the car just to pay for the repairs...

I don't know where you got that weight figure from, but from Edmunds, the 180 Coupe is 2900+, the Quattros add another 300 lbs, and the convertable adds another 200lbs. So, the 225 Quattro TT is 3400+ lbs. That's ridiculous for a roadster.
If it actually weigh closer to 2700lbs, it would be fine. It's ugly too.

Just as Audi turned the A4 into the S4, there'll be and S-TT out next year with over 300hp...nice car as is, but it's porky as djm221 said so it needs the power input to play in the big leagues. Otherwise it's just a nice "secretary's car".

First of all, the turbo does not whoosh nicely, unless the diverter valve is going (which the stock one does easily since it is only a rubber diaghram. The car is a bit on the porky side, but with relatively little money, it can be rather quick. Def not a secrateries car. And add a rear sway, and the handling becomes much more neutral. But with a chip and an exhaust, the car def moves.
Looks, well they are subjective, but in terms of performance, a squashed bug this car is not.

How is this dissapointing.
WRX 2.0L turbo=227hp
Eclipse GST and GSX 2.0L turbo=205hp
Audi TT 1.8L Turbo= 225hp
You mut be disappointed in these cars as well then. I know its 32K but its an Audi not a Mitsu or Subaru. The interior on the eclipse is terrible looks cheaper than a civic.

Amen. I love how most people know nothing about the car but talk the smack on it's performance. With an APR chip, you can bump the psi to a little over 1 bar (around 15 psi), and the car is quickly up to 260 hp. Add an exhaust, a new diverter valve (to handle the increased boost), and an intake, and this car is screaming. Do the APR stage 3 upgrade, and you are looking at over 400 hp. But I forgot, that's very dissapointing coming from a little SINGLE turbo 1.8L engine.

I like the hard-top... but the conv. loses too much of the clean look and the use of what little back seat there is...
dfess1
04-30-2002, 09:51 AM
Most TT coupe drivers take the back seat out. Number one, you can fit a purse in it, that's about it. Number two, it weighs 750 some odd pounds. That's alot of weight to be saving.
And MilinGTS, if you like the car, why not go for it. What difference does it make what other people think of your car, as long as you like your car. And contrary to the general consensus in this thread, just because it may not have the best looks does NOT mean it does not have performance. THe car is a blast to drive, and like I've said before, it can be made to go fast.

And yes, I drove that audi. I believe it's one of those cars, which you either hate from the first site or fall in love with.

theres really no difference in the 225 version though is there?
i mean its just upgraded boost which can be done at APR in houston with a little chip.
its very easy to get this car into the 13's and 12's
if it is anythingliek the GTi.

ur right.. I thought lower model doesn't have turbo at all..
I guess only difference is rear bumper and dual muffler.. that's all I can say.. but 180 or 190hp version(single muffler)in stock isn't that fast..
I drove my friend's 225hp version.. after 5000RPM turbo kicks in.. and that thing is flying.. feels like vvtl-i but much stronger and u can hear that turbo sound.. not like our celica, engine it self is really quiet but when u hit that 5k rpm engine is still quiet but only thing u hear is that whistle?? sound..

more like 3800 :)
My jetta spools at 3300 and screams after that...same with the TT. Its the K04 turbo so there is a little delay, but barely noticeable.

2002 TT Roadster:
180hp FWD model: 3131 lbs
225 AWD model: 3472 lbs
2002 TT Coupe:
180hp FWD model: 2921 lbs
225hp AWD model: 3274 lbs
that will end all weight issues.
