What's the easiest way to get rid of the UFO's when you have aftermarket HID ?

Use some aluminum tape to cover the holes in the projector housing. I don't mind the UFOs they light up the overhead road signs.

I'll take your word for it just because of the work you put into your retros, but no one has ever flashed there lights at me. I can see how it might be a problem but its never come up to my knowledge aleast, but I'm not in the on comming lane.

I used to have an hid kit without covering up the holes. Had my brother drive passed me while I was driving my moms car and it blinds the oncoming driver slightly. It's most blinding when you are driving passed a board walk (beach) at night with people walking :chuckles: The light goes directly at people's face.

what are the UFOs?
They are holes in the cut off shield that let the light out above the cut off line.

Unidentified Flying "O"s when you turn your HID headlight(non HID projector lense) on..
Half bottom light up the the street and you'll have 4 circle above the horizon...
It has been identified as lighting to light up the street signs....
Rumor say some people has been saying it blinds the on comming traffic...
Some say only for short moment....
I've personally saw it and it lit up the street sign well....

haha, its aliens.
j/k, i've noticed them too. at about 40 yards they're about the size of weather balloons, i think they're great for lighting up street signs though. just wish i could get the time to aim my headlights up. i know i'm slack, but i'm also very busy.

Those 4 lights aren't even blinding bright as you seen on the picture....
It's bright enough to light up the street signs(which has reflective material)...

Do not use duct tape -- the heat from the HID bulb will melt the duct tape.

you could use duramix large panel adhesive to cover the lights. its a two stage epoxy that finishes out black.

Haha I'm serious though! My friend used duct tape to cover the holes, it melted, and left some nasty residues on the HID bulb.

Hey Pokgai, I did a search on HIDs awhile back and you seemed to versed in the subject so...I have 5ks in my stock halogen housing and am getting a yellow flare at the top of the cut off line. Do you think painting the sheild a flat black would get rid of it? I notice that when I cover the top of my headlight with my hand the yellow flare goes away.

I don't get those UFO's either, and i've got Zenith's 6000K HID's
Are our headlights different to yours in America? (I didn't think so) we've got the projector lenses as well.

It wont get rid of it. You have to alter the cut off shield in order to get rid of the yellow. You either have to bend the shield (not going to happen) or you space the two halves with washers. You have the reflector portion and the projector portion that are split in two. If you've taken apart the headlights you'll know what I'm talking about.

If you don't have the ufo's then you have a solid shield with no holes in it.

Post a picture of the yellow flare. It could be that the bulb is not seated correctly in the projector, causing the focal point to be altered and thus resulting in a not so clean cutoff. Check the way the bulb sits in the projector to make sure it's flat.

Here a pic of what Im talking about. Im sure the bulb is correctly seated, I put them in while I had the headlights out.
