My car is a mess. Blah.

Get this, I just dropped it off for it's 30,000 mile check-up. I purchased it in May 2000, so I guess I'm doing alright on the miles comparitively but check this list out.

In the past month I've spent this:

$500 deductible for insurance
$400 python alarm (to the max, and I should have got this about 2 years earlier)

For those of you that didn't know, my beautiful car was vandalized by some punks who decided to break my window, dent my roof, steal my GAUGE for my EGT sensor (mind you, not the harness, computer, or even the connections so they can't do diddly with it), and steal my color matched LCD (WAAH!). Both of which they removed by RIPPING AND TWISTING THEM OFF THE COLUMN AND DASH when they could have easily simply unscrewed them in a bout 5 minutes.

Amateurs.

I'm about to spend this:

$382.00 for the 30,000.
$150 plus labor for the replacement MAF sensor (damn filter oil killed it, I didn't even LUBE IT).
$80 bucks for all 4 exhaust bolts and springs because I'm an idiot and stripped the threads on 3 of them. :gap:
$330 dollars for a brand new GReddy A/F gauge.
$300 for my N20 install (finally!)
$200 for detailing of my car so it'll look like it used to (damn TACOMA WEATHER).

Jeezus.....this sucked this year. :(

Move to a safer city... Bellevue? Issaqua? Hahah, Bellingham! Nothing happens there!

You think I'd live in Tacoma on purpose?

This place is probably the worst city I've ever lived in.

I'm in the military, so it's not like I have a choice in the matter.

Man we should all go out to the track before:

1) I start working like crazy
2) Summer kicks in

Sucks about the vandalism. Makes the fact that I got egged a couple weeks ago seem rather lame.

I've been so damn busy with the military, my social life has been dead. Literally.

I'll start posting again...I really haven't touched the boards since that meet at Tim's.

Heheh...I'm up for it.

And why are you paying some one to detail your car? You should do that yourself.

Well..let me put it this way.

My carpet is ruined from all of the MUD and RAIN in Tacoma. I put plastic down underneath way too late, and by now the carpet is just screwed. The passenger side is fine, but the driver side espescially back where the dead pedal is at is pretty bad.

Plus, I've got tons of paint chips that need to be covered up, and I'm getting my car color sanded to help bring back that luster.

It's a 2000, and I've done quite a bit of traveling with it.

After bringing it back from it's 30,000 mile check up, it's better than new mechanically. Nice and smooth.

As for doing it myself, I HAVE done it myself. I usually spend a WHOLE Saturday every month (about 6 hours or more) detailing it from front to back, side to side, and bottom to top.

Everything from engine cleaning to muffler polishing, to wheel tinting, to a wax removal and then a 3 coat application (scratch remover, polish, polish).

All that..only to have it rain the next damn day.

So I'm just taking a break, that's all, lol.

If you've ever had your car detailed by a PROFESSIONAL place, trust me...it's worth it.

Just saw this on the news. Tacoma is 7th for most cars stolen and Seattle/Bellevue/Everette is 9th....

Jeez...could you guys have tried to comfort me or something.

I've gotta go get a H&K, just so the next time my alarm goes off in the middle of the night, I can show the thieves some expert marksmanship fundamentals.

:D Don't ever steal from a Combat Arms instructor.

Bastiches!!

I KNOW they live in the neighborhood, because theres been a rash of car thieving going on in our complex. Our apt complex hired a security guard immediately after my car was broken into, and he does a good job. I see him every night walking around.

He's armed too. :D

me with the Celica:

Got rip-off by dealer financing the first day.
Got hit by a woman not looking when backing in parking lot after 5 wks of ownership.
Bent two wheels after 5 days I put them on(only 16")
Wheel repair shop did a bad job after $150 spent
Vandalized in daytime (got 5 key scratches)
Dealer refused to fix my tensioner problem stating that my bumper dent could have related to that.
Had to deal with creaky body panels, squeeky sunroof, stinky A/C, rusted rotors(center), idle vibration in which all problems dealer refused or failed to fix
Body shop cheated me on body repair, did not replace my borken parts, they just fixed them

Solution: Sold the car with no regret. I am more happy driving a car that is 1/10 of the price and spend 1/2 in insurance. I'd rather spend my money on other hobbies.

lol, sorry man... If you haven't read the NW forums, a bunch of us from Team Divergence might go to a S2000 NSX meet because one of out memebers has an NSX and we're meeting at SyKart on May 18th at 12:00pm, it's near Southcenter Mall in Tukwila. Also we're planning a meet at Alki, hope you can make that...

What's the best cost-effective approach to taking care of paint chips? I picked up at least two really noticeable ones (one on the hood, one on the bumper, below the emblem) and it's really distracing. Detailing or repaint? I also have a few noticeable scratches on the underside of the lower lip. Need advice.

My dealership offers detailing services (I think). Can I trust them to do a decent job, or should I try to find a professional place?
