I hafta take out the plastic dash pieces in the center of the console this weekend to get them painted next week..
I have no problems removing any of the pieces (sunglass holder, trim around shifter, etc). The only thing I can't figure out is how to remove the small panel that surrounds the window controls. I know it can be removed cuz I've seen people with this part painted.. how do u get it off?
thanks..

unscrew the shift knob, pull the boot and part of the center console it is connected to out (just pull up firmly, it pops out), unscrew the screw that is now exposed on the power window peice, and lift it out. Disconnect the wiring harness and you are done. Hope this helps.

ALANlll... Thanks for your help.. but I think ya misunderstood me. I know how to remove the window controls assembly. :) That isn't the problem. After I remove the assembly I want to seperate the top part from the bottom part.. I want to remove the gray part on the top so it can be painted with the rest of my dash trim panels, ya know?
anyone? :)

oldster.. all I see is a picture of tools. ;)
I just want to paint the trim that is right around the window controls.. but don't know how to separate the top part from the rest of the window controls unit.

there are screws under the window control unit. just look around until you find screws and start unscrewing them until the top comes off. thats the real way to do it! mess around until you succeed!

Sorry about the link and not understanding your question. I've had mine out but paid no attention to how they were put together so can't help.
under that unit theres 3 small bronze screws.. remove that. then theres the ... i guess i can say motherboard of it... remove that and the soft plastic thing. under that there should be your last 3 screws.. remove those and the top should come right off
