Footwell Neon Wiring Question

Hi, i was wondering if it would be possible to wire up footwell neons so that they come on when the door is opened like the dome light and also to come on when the headlights turn on. I would like this to be set up where i don't have any switches to worry about. Like when the door opens, neons light up; when the headlights turn on, neons light up without me having to manually turn them on with a switch. thanks in advance for your help.

The easiest way to do this is use a relay and tap into the left hand side connector as shown. This will activate the lights when the door is open.

yes those are good, but i would like to not have to deal with switches to make this happen. I want them to automatically turn on with the door and automatically turn on with the headlights.

Like open the door, the lights go on. Shut door, lights go off or what ever delay the dome light has. Then when headlights turn on, footwell lights turn on. Without me having to touch anything or mount any switches. Is this even possible?

Relay & diodes.... yes

~ = relay coil
-->|-- = diode

either door or HL will activate the relay... Common can be +12 or gnd ....wire from NO contact on relay to neons whichever you want to switch... +12 or gnd.
