Ok right now i have a slow autoGT with 5,000 miles on it. Its a 2002 and I got it in september 2001. Ok so you think i can trade in for a 2001 GT 5 speed and get money back? I would take my car back to stock and all that. What you think i can get for it? My car is in PERFECT condition not one scratch. its lowered and i ahve never bottomed out. So what you think i could get for it? You think the dealer would do it? Well... I alreaddy checked KBB.com

well im not sure if you'd get money back (unfortunately you might not as new cars depreciate a ton right after you drive it off the lot) but you should definately do it, manuals are way more fun. or like i already said in southeast buy mine :)

What is this, the SE Forum. Honestly, if your going to go through all that trouble, you might as well get a GT-S. Just MHO

You probably won't get money back, in fact you might have to pay a like $1K cause as Cody said car depreciate like it ain't no tommorrow.

i was gonna but depreciation sucks.... maybe if u traded in for a used gts... dunno how used cars dealers work tho....... if u do this.... ur gonna get hard. twice. one from the auto gt.... and one from the new car.... so ur looking at 4-5k lost rite there... its really bad.... i'd just stick with the current car u have now or something... literally.... 4-5k lost.... so i'd think long and hard before trading in..

if you trade in for a USED car then it won't be so bad at all. how much is the used one going for?

how much of a downpayment did you put down? It may help out on your equity.
I'd still consider a trade for a used GT-S. If so, make sure that u check the background of the car so that you don't get one that's had a blown motor or anything. Be careful..

throw your car in the auto trader around here, you'll get more out of it that way than taking it to a dealer to trade in. then save up a little more money (depending on what you get from yours) and you can buy mine (it will be in fine condition then since everything will have been replaced by warranty).

You will definitly lose, One of my Friends got a brand new 2000 Civic EX back in July 2000, He went in september to trade it for a 5-spd after I got my car he got jealous and wanted a manuel to his parents bought the civic for him, but anyway the dealer told him it would cost him an extra 5 thousand dollars for the same car in 5spd his car only had 3000 miles.

yup, dealerslike to rip you off horribly when trading in a car. that's why i'd try to sell it privately if at all possible, you'll probably come out a few thousand better that way.

I sold my Volvo Myself, When I tried to trade it in the Mitsubishi dealer offered me 3000 dollars I was like WTF then they said well how bout 4000 I said Cya, I went home put a For sale sign on my car dropped it off at a bank parking lot 4 hours later I got a call, A girl who was hot wanted to check it out, She test drove it, then 2 days later bought it from me for 6000 dollars, that was about a grand less then I wanted but she didn't like the Exhaust and the Rotors were shot, so I think I ended up doing pretty good, Considering 4 hours after she bought my car I was following my Dad in his car and he was driving my Celi (I couldn't drive stick at the time)

I thought I already posted this but there must be another topic floating around here about the same thing. Anyway:
I traded in my 2000 auto GT-S that I bought new for a used 2000 6-speed GT-S at the same dealer I bought mine at. Didn't do too bad. It was $2000 more, but the 6-speed has 10,000 miles while my auto has 20,000 miles, and Toyotas used car warranty is better than their new car warranty. I still had the remainder of the factory 3/36 but I also had a 5 year/100,000 mile warranty on the drivetrain etc, because it was a "Certified Used Toyota". Overall it wasn't a bad deal at all, and yes the 6-speed is much faster. But I had several problems with the 6-speed and got the clutch, plate, and throw-out bearing all replaced free under warranty.
