Welp, I'm finally getting my front bumper repainted (under warranty) tomorrow. First they told me to bring it in Monday (which I did) and they would give me a rental. When I got there, they said that they would spit the cost of the rental with me. They were going to have my car 4 -5 days. I said wait a minute, the first time you guys painted my bumper, my rental was free since it was your dealers fault that it needed painted in the first place. They guy said that was the best he could do. So I called the district service mgr and complained that I was having to come out of pocket for this and it was Toyota's fault that I'm here. So he had a little chat with the mgr of the paint shop and now my rental is free. Only thing is that he told me since he was going to have to cover the rental, that he didn't want the car until 8 a.m. Wednesday and it would be done by 6 p.m. Wed. Humph, so lets see here. I pay for rental and it's 4-5 days without car, He pays for rental and it's done in one afternoon. Funny how that works.
Sorry so long, I just thought it was kinda humerous

Basically what it tells me is that my car was going to prolly going to sit for 2-3 days before they even started on it. Jerks...

yea, that would definately suck. hopefully it will go better than rox's experience at the ghetto body shop though, thankfully we're finally through with them (although the car still isn't done but is now at a better shop).

since rox rarely visits here anymore i'll sum it up...the original body shop that it was at screwed everything up and we were waiting on them to re-do it. they never finished but she went by to pick it up the other day. we didn't think they deserved the $70 that was still owed (since they didnt finish it and everything turned out horrible) but they wanted it, and insisted on getting it. she ended up paying after quite a dispute (from what i heard) and then today we went by a new body shop that the paint shop guy told us about. he's gonna hook her up with a good deal and hopfully do everything right this time.

Damn, so she paid to have it repainted and basically got nothing out of it and is now having to pay again?! That really sucks.

yup, we had to find out the hard way how bad this shop was. they seemed pretty cool and good at first but we've realized that was definately not true. the rear and sides turned out decent and also parts of the interior/engine plastics are alright, but that was it. the front was still way off and the wing was chipping too, and there was a huge run in the piece around the gauges. and yea, it sucks that she has to pay again but luckily the guy from the paint shop was really cool and is giving her the paint for free, she just has to pay the new body shop a bit for labor (and luckily he seems cool too and isn't gonna rip her off).

Damn, i hope it works out this time. She's been without her car for a while. I'd sue that crappy shop and try and get some money back. She could take them to a small claims court or something...
or go to The People's Court.
Haha

haha...the people's court would be awesome. small claims might be a good idea though, maybe she could get some of it back. but then it would probably piss them off even more and i dont want the paint guy coming after me (i work right down the street from them now). i heard he went crazy the other day and kept saying he was gonna kick everyone's ass if they didn't get off his property and pay him. that dude freaks me out.

Dude take him to Judge Judy she will rip him a new one. hehe, Sorry to hear Rox is having so many probs with the repainting, I hope it all turns out well this time, If it does and I get my Body kit this summer I might let them do it for me. let me know how this shop is.

How come she doesn't take it to a Toyota Body shop? I'm sure they can match the paint.

Toyota Body shops are expensive and I don't think they really are Toyota body shops, Your going to the one behind Maritta Toyota right, That isn't a toyota body shop I went there once, and they do biz with everyone, they had more honda's then toyota's when I was there.

yea, when i was thinking of getting a TRD kit a while back i called toyota and they were way too expensive. they gave me a quote of $2000 to paint and install the kit. i found that to be stupid, so didn't go to them.

It's actually at the Atlanta Toyota Bodyshop and your right, it's not at the dealer, it's right up the road. I told him that I might be buying a kit this summer, how much to paint if it replaced the bumpers and sideskirts. He said $500 painted and installed. Is that good?

I dropped the Celi off this morning BTW. I'm now the proud owner of a Pontiac Sunfire. Woohoo!! They said that it should be done by the time they close tonight. I hope they do a good job this time.

Pontiac Sunfire Woo Hoo, when my friends Camero got rear ended thats what they gave him, we went off roading in it a couple of times, Really durable car, just be careful because if you try to spin it in the dirt and you hit a rut the Wheel will disconnect from the rim. Oh and the bumper may come off if you get it airborn :D

$500 is a pretty good deal actually. and that's funny about the sunfire, they won't even give me a loaner car when i get the transmission next week.

why no loaner?

05-01-2002, 04:38 PM
Don't you have to be 21 to get a loaner from Toyota, That's why I am waiting to do my 30,000 mile service because I won't be 21 till July 1 and I want the frikken loaner.

Hahaha..... Jamie got to drive a Sunfire!!! bet that was fun hehehe... Hope you didn't wear the tires down too bad :D:D
Coolwheels00
05-02-2002, 05:32 PM
Haha, yeah that sunfire sucked ass. I was making a left hand turn from a stoplight today, by the time I got turned, the tires were rolling over and sqealing. Damn, I was only going like 20 mph! POS! I picked up my car today and it looks beautiful again!!
Not only did they get my bumper perfect, they also washed/waxed the rest of the car AND detailed my interior. I was like Dayum!! My car looks great. How's that for service!
I couldn't be happier. He told me (if) when I get my kit to bring it in and they'd hook me up. Hell yeah!

I think that they'll at least wash it for ya. They usually will when your car is there for warranty work. When do you drop it off?

i'm gonna try to get it to them after my class gets out around 2:00 or 3:00 on tuesday, so it will probably be around 3:00-4:00 or so when i actually get there.

Damn Jamie.. that is cool as he!!... So what was wrong with the bumper? was the paint flaking off?
Coolwheels00
05-03-2002, 08:24 PM
no, the lower third of the bumper looked like crap. It looked like it had hundreds of rock chips in the paint except that it was all UNDER the clear coat. It was weird. Almost like they didn't prep it right when they repainted it the first time and the paint was separatiing under the clear coat.
