I've been thinking about giving a manual transmission a try. I'd figure I could probably get $9k-$10K for my auto GTS if I can't trade it.
But wait...this opens up opportunities to look into other cars besides a Celica.
Don't get me wrong, I love my Spec Blue Celica but I'd thought I could give other cars a try.
So yes, I've been looking around and found these possible cars: an Acura Integra, this really nice Blue Civic SI/SIR, or a 6-speed Celica for $10K.
What to do...what to do. Help?

go for the 6spd gt-s! big difference from an auto.

integra looks very dated.
a civic would be a downgrade for the most part.
6 speed gts is the best out of the bunch.
although i would pick a different car from there, those options were good mid 90's cars. the gts can at least still keep up with cars available now.

not if he got a lightweight hatch and swapped in a b18c1

I would go celica because it's the best looking car in its class. Is $$$ an issue? Are you looking to buy your next car for what you get on yours?
6 speed GTS is pretty fun! The ONLY honda I would consider is the brand new SI. I think they are pretty good and have potential to look very good on the outside. They seem to have good power looking at their numbers.

I had a similar situation when I got rid of my auto GT, and got my Spec blue GT-S Auto. Man, what a difference. IMHO there is not a better looking car for the buck that you can get out there that doesn't cost a fortune than the Celica GT-S.
Come on now, this is a sweat ride. If I had a serious choice I would look at the VW VR6. :headbang:

Yes it can. You just have to know how to drive.

a Integra GS-R would be worth it. but harder to find. i think you should just find a gt-s.

No, it really can't. When you drive against little civics driven by some punk high schooler, sure you can beat em. But most of the cars now put celica's to shame. They're nice looking cars, but thats where it stops.
Personally, if I could fit in it, I'd get a Miata and play with that.

What cars are you refering to? $30k+ sports cars? Or are you talking about the AWD cars that can outlaunch the Celica? The only car I can think of from the top of my head would be an SRT4. What other car would put the Celica to shame from a roll, or on a road course? Note; I did not say beat, I said put to shame.

I guess you didn't realize the auto GT is faster than the auto GT-S.
Yes, this is a well documented phenomenon.

:stupid:
In all honestly, my Miata is more fun than any car I've ever owned - yes, this includes my RX-7 and RX-8. Mazda makes a great car, and the Miata is the greatest car Mazda has ever made. It is just so balanced and sorted out - right amount of power for the size (2116 lbs with a 4.3 rear end!), and, of course, totally cool convertible factor.

id look for a miata, unless space is an issue. I was going to get one instead of my GT. the biggest thing for the GT was space as i need a lot of it and the miata was... well kinda small.
overall id say the miata is a better than a 6spd GTS, there is a bigger aftermarket, the cars are lighter, better weight balance (convertible) front and back so it would be a great AutoX car. Im pretty sure the miata's can handle turbo better than a GTS, plus when N/A there is a lot more power.
you can usually find a low mileage one for pretty cheap. i almost got a 00 with 30k for $10g's.

miata engine comes from the mazda323 gtx - awd turbo - oil squirters for the pistons etc . . 18 psi on stock internals.

Well, I'd probably go for anything around the value of my GTS.
I was looking at the '00 Civic SiR and looks like it is very similar to the GTS. Does all FWD compact sport cars have low end torque?!
What sets the SiR apart from the regular Si?
I've alread found a few 6-speed GTS around here but they're all above the 100K milage. I'll be on the lookout for that perfect GTS...
I haven't given much thought to the Integra.
