Hey all,

When I got my 30,000 mile check up done on Monday...they noted that my brakes were at 75%, in other words 25% used.

I find this particularly awesome and disturbing at the same time. After all the hot rodding, brake-riding, and road racing I've done (espescially after Willow Springs), I figured by NOW they would have been ALMOST gone.

It kinda freaks me out a wee bit? Has anyone had to replace their brakes yet? I can still pretty much stop on a dime!

I want another set of the stock brakes..they rock!

I felt the same way when I had my last check up at 20,000miles. 85% left all around..I couldnt believe it either. 2 years with the car, even though the mileage is low. :)

I was at 60,000 miles with 2% left before I changed my pads.

31,000 miles and the brakes look new. That is one reason I have not messed with brake mods yet. When the pads go I will put on high performance pads, slotted rotors and ss lines.

30,000 miles some time this week and I just changed the pads out last weekend. I think autocross munches through brakes faster than any sort of street driving but I'm surprised a day at Willow Springs didn't take a big bite of the brakes longevity.

Last time I checked, which was at 20000 miles, i had 85% left... now i am at 26000 miles... prolly i still have around 80% left...

Hehe...what's the norm for brakes? Is this good or bad for normal brake longevity?

I just remember replacing my Grand Am GT's brakes like freaking 20,000 miles after I got it. Blah.

I'm glad it's gone..heh!

I think mine are going. I have 27,000 mi. and the other day I had to stop quick on the highway and it felt like the rears were grabing more than the front and I started to fish tail a little.

The GT-S has fantastic brakes as evident in the short stopping distances. This is due to the size of the rotors and calipers/pads and the low weight of the car, and this helps longevity of the brakes.

The stock pads also don't dust up too much :) Makes the rims easier to clean.

heh If u r ever around orlando and on the 408... take a look at the exit ramp towards anderson street heading west bound... I left a tire trail like 80 feet down after racing a firebird...

I changed lanes and didn't realize it was an exit ramp lane... soo I braked from like 80 to 0 in 3 flat and managed to squeeze my celi in between the gaurd rail and like 12 cars all the way down the ramp...

lol, when the smoke cleared everyone on the ramp was just staring at my car coming out of the clearing smoke... I swear they had that face like the space shuttle just landed in the interstate...

Yep my celis saved my ass quite a few times..
