my car blacked out today

i was cornering about 70km/h
down gear 5th, to 4th, to 3rd, then corner
when i was in the middle of the corner, the car suddenly blacked out
it's like the ECU just resetted itself, the time and the stereo (center counsol) flashed and resetted
did this happen to anyone b4?
i think maybe it has soemthing to do with my battery bec i don't have the red plastic cover on the battery side and maybe while i was cornering, the strut bar bent a bit to adjust to the force and touched something
can anyone help?

it blacked out today again
and this time the whole car just shutted off
it ends up that there's something screwed up about my battery
the batter cable of the negative side burned up
but i still managed to jumps start it
going to take it to the dealer tomorrow

You might wanna take out that strut bar, just in case.

That strut bar likely caused the problem, and that's exactly what the dealer will say. I would definitely recommend that you remove the strut bar. Shorting out the system like that may have burned out your entire wiring harness, which will be an expensive repair, so don't give them an excuse to avoid doing it under warranty.

hey dude, i had the EXACT same problem

wanna guess what it was?

the strut bar.

my battery was grounding itself against the strut bar and shutting off everytime i had fun in my car....so i started taking corners at increasing amounts of G-force...and finally i heard the battery hit the strut bar and bam...car shut off.

its your strut bar.

make sure you put a plastic cover over one of your terminals.


and TIGHTEN DOWN THAT BATTERY!!!!!


and do yourself a favor, dont go to the dealer...theyll give you the run around.

i was the strut bar
i took it to toyta today
my warrentee is voided \even when i took out the bar bec they know that i had it
now, i have to py for the battery which it totaly fukced, the wiring connected the to batter and the harness, which is totaly burned out, and labour
i'm so pissed

that new hypermotive strut bar better come with a battery tie-down bracket to keep the terminals far away.....

Stick rubber between the bar and the battery terminals if you have to :) Those saggy spring rubber thingies you can buy at pep boys. :p

buy a sears battery..lifetime warranty on em i think, just keep returning em after you destroy em
