My girlfriends dad has a couple of banks turbos at his shop. What size would work on my GT-S. Thanks!! Would they even work at all??? What brands and numbers do I need to look for. He has a shop and salvage yard that I could maybe find one at.

you need to get the specs on them...or post a few pictures of the housings and wheels ...you can basically make any turbo work if it fits and you control it right

Diesel what? If it came off a truck like my Dodge Cummins, then hell no, it wont fit...if it came off like a VW TDI then yes it can be made to work..

I think banks only sticks with trucks so it's most likely for a diesel truck and no it wont work on the celica.

None of them will work. Banks Power only makes stuff for diesel trucks (powerstrokes, cummins, etc). The Banks System turbo my buddy has on his powerstroke is about the size of a soccer ball.

Well this isnt a large turbo. The round body part is about the size of a softball. I can ask what kind of diesel it came off of. Could I use a turbo off of a car. What cars came with a good factory turbo that could be scavenged.

You can't use the turbo off a diesel truck, it's a different system.

you can use any turbo. Some just work more efficiently than others.
Some diesel turbos have a reverse scroll housing (meaning the turbo spins the opposite direction compared to your average Garret turbo). They still work fine. Most diesel turbos are made for higher pressures though, so their efficiency range is normally up around 20-30 psi on the motor they were built for.

Post lots of GOOD slose ups of inside the compresor and turbine sides and the inlets and outlets on hot and cold side - put a soda can next to it for frame of reference- do that and we can probably give you SOME idea of if it will work at all.

Diesel turbos are designed for less heat and gas amount. There are many that would fit both aplications, but consider the differences.

Ha ha, some kid huh. My guess is I am older than most people on this board. I feel like an old man around here sometimes. I am 25 yrs old. I just know nothing about turbos. I have grown up with american muscle. I am just getting to know about smaller engines and forced induction. My gf's dads brother has a large salvage yard I could get stuff off of. Are there any cars that would have a better turbo. They had several Audi turbo cars and a couple others. Thanks guys, bear with me, I will probably ask a lot of questions to get to know this stuff better.

yeah, an Audi turbooff one of the newer 1.8Ts or a 2.0T should work fine. Also one off a VW 1.8 would work as well but may be on the small side.
Also the turbo off an old DSM could be made to work.
BUT - read the survey on custom kits we just posted and the Turbo FAQ - trust me when I say you will NOT save money by building a kit around a used turbo

like boosted says, it will be pricey to build a custom kit. i have over 12,000 under my hood, so i can assure you, boosting isnt cheap

I completely understand that I wont be saving money. I also understand that I wont be doing this any time soon. I just want to start looking for parts and stuff I will need. Just curious about what will work. Oh, and its nice to know there are guys on here over the age of 16-18. ha ha I always feel like an old man on here.

WOW, I was just searching all of the past threads about doing a turbo setup and someone sold a turbo setup on here for $300 dollars a while back????? It must have been legit because someone bought it and said they got it. Why cant that kind of stuff happen to me??? They said the only thing missing was the Emanage.
Ok here is the deal. Can someone give me a list of things I would need to find if I wanted to make my own kit. I know its not the best way, but just humor me. The salvage yard I have access to is close to Lincoln NE and they sometimes get some tuner cars in there that get wrecked and I might be able to get some pieces I would need. He said that have actually had aftermarket ecu's before. Thanks guys. Dont worry, in between these posts I am reading up on stuff as much as I can.

Read the DIY turbo kit thread (it has that list) and look at the content lists for the kits already available
Heres a link to the thread: http://www.newcelica.org/forums/showthread.php?t=205725

Would any of this be usable. Its from a Honda B16 engine.
Turbonetics turbo with ceramic coated exhaust housing, Spearco intercooler, Greddy Profec B electronic boost controller, Tial wastegate, Blitz blow-off valve and DH Racing manifold.
I could get this for 1800, may not be worth it but I thought I would ask. Or maybe what I should ask is, what parts of this could I use???

Doesnt C2 make GT-S kits already. Thanks for the answer Smaay.
Oh, I think you are telling me to stop asking stupid questions and wait and get a premade kit. I will stop asking stuff and just start saving. Thanks though guys. I have learned alot in the last week.

Well as much as I would love to just buy it right now, I have a few more important things to buy. I have a girl that needs something on her finger. :D Maybe C2 would be interested in sponsoring a GT-S in central Nebraska.
