its been rumored for some time now... just depends on toyota really. Awhile back rumor has it, Toyota was developing another small midship car that'll be the successor of the last MR-S. The new MR maybe hybrid as well. If Toyota rolls out this out, it'll take the Scion badge over here in the States. It'll also give some hope for us Toyota fans... could this be a sports car revolution for Toyota??

Probably only the next tC. They already have a new xB.

Kinda odd... considering the tC is already the coupe in the Scion stable. I'm thinking tC w/3.3L or 3.5L 6cyl w/6spd auto & sequential shift .....think of a 2dr Lexus IS. Maybe something combined w/a Synergy hybrid drive?

or per please tell me it will be lighter than a tC with the same 2.4l in it. please. it'll be a tC liftback/Celica...w/a 2.4L.... perhaps w/lift...lol

Excited to see what they come out with, though there are already very interesting ideas brought up in here. Time will tell.

Technically it should be the replacement for the tC since every Scion is only supposed to have a 3 year shelf life which the tC is in its 3rd year.

thats why they arent worth $hit when you go to sell it.

thats why they are cheap as well in the first place. If it was RWD it would shock the hell out of me. I'm pretty sure it will suck like most scion concepts but I'm gonna keep an open mind with my Sarcrasm Ray handy.

??

the xB and xA were out for longer than the tC, and as far as i know they're still being sold... whats that about the 3 year shelf-life, is news to me.

what i think happened is that toyota finally got tired of people bagging on them for being non-sporty and they're adding a higher performance coupe to the scion brand.

here's to hoping, anyway.

the tC just got refreshed the last year with the new tails rite?

I live in south east texas. dealers wont give you anything for them. ive seen some people go in with an 05 xB and got 7k for it. not sure about tC's. but dealers will sell them at 16k jsut because.

i dont like tc's all that much, my celcia feels faster, its too heavy. whatever it is i doubt ill buy it being realistic. but it will be interesting.

No. The only refresh the tC got for the 2006 MY was a new radio with steering wheel controls and an RS 1.0 model. You might be thinking about the hideous TYC LED tails, but they have been on sale for about 6 months now.

The Celica's weight spoils. The tC is really not that heavy.

Oh yeah... factory lambo doors, 18 inch wheels, LSD, and side exiting exhaust. And it will be a rip off if it costs more than $20k. I think that just about covers the end state of what this thread is destined for :)

Toyota has already unveiled the Vits/Yaris T Sport concept in Geneva.

http://www.autoweek.nl/images/800/17166.jpg

YARIS T SPORT CONCEPT

Concept leading the way for production Yaris sports model in 2007

New 1.8-litre petrol engine

Extensive sports body styling features

17-inch alloy wheels

The Yaris T Sport is a design exercise that points towards a production sporting Yaris that is scheduled to arrive in showrooms during 2007, powered by a new 1.8-litre petrol engine.

The key reference point for Toyota

FriedRice

doesnt make sense cuz the yaris is already going to be a toyota brand right?

they wouldnt put the sport version of the yaris under different plates... that'd be weird

canton_ph34r
03-15-2006, 02:37 PM
Its not gonna be the Vitz for sure. Also is the T-sport edition going to be released in America? For what I know the Vitz/Yaris that we are going to recieve will have 1.5 litre echo engines.

techgeekwill
03-15-2006, 02:40 PM
that would be weird, but this is toyota, i mean they killed the supra and celica right?

i wouldnt be suprised if it a terrible pi$$-poor attempt at a celica, the xA and xB are poor attempts at cars.

I dont know what it is going to be, and im not too concerned, i wont buy it. it will be interesting to see what direction toyota branded products (including scion but not lexus) take as far as sporty cars.

Some of that was tongue in cheek.... but.. it wouldn't surprise me for it to be a hybrid sports model or @ least an option...... they have done a couple of hybrid sports concepts..so the Scion replacement might make a good test bed..... Camry is seeing a hybrid in '07... 2.4L, 192hp, Direct Ignition....w/continously variable transmission...@ 3,680lbs... so if they knock off some weight... the current tC is rated 160hp w/2,905lbs M/T, 2970lbs A/T... so 192hp would help... but they'd still have to go on a diet.

actually the RS 1.0 was a 2005 model

As for the xa and xb not recieving updates, the xA already had a minor facelift and additional crap, and the new xB is on its way.

whatever it is, it'll be cheap - Scion is targeted to be affordable, and towards the youth market - this means it won't be RWD, because I have yet to see a RWD chassis go for less than $20,000, and this is beyond what most kids have to pay.

Expect it to be a "sporty" coupe, meaning it will look sporty but still be slow and handle like ****. It'll get good gas mileage and have enough torque for stopngo driving.

Been reading on Scionlife.com that the concept is going to be called the Scion " Fuse " and it's basically a convertible. Seems like it's going to be an MR2 replacement from what I gathered from that forum.

The Pontiac Solstice MSRP $19,915 and Ford Mustang V6 $19,115 are the two that I can think of. The Miata is pretty close at $20,435.

Mid range sport car in the level of rx8, most likely V6, 269 hoarse power or a i-4 170 hp, FR, covetable model a year later after launch.

:wtf: affordable? 269hp... scion... right. i think by covetable you mean convertable? IF scion would go to the class of the rx8, it WOULD NOT be under the name scion. but rather Toyota.

^ The thing is that companies cant have competition within their own line up. A good example is the Del Sol, at one point Honda had the Civic, Integra , and Del Sol and all 3 cars are similar...so one had to go. Toyota already has tc & XRS, y would they make the same copy of the tc. And its not like Toyota never made cheap reliable FR spot car(AE86), so why cant they do it again?. This is MY opinion only.
