Does any one Dyno Tune their Celica before?
I got the result it seems quite werid
I have a HKS Hi power muffler,Custom made CAT, K&N air filter, Apexi SAFC
and the 1st time i did a tune with a TRD filter it comes out on 93.4 kW on wheel
and the 2nd time i did a tune with a K&N filter it comes out on 98.9kW on wheel

but i seen from the web that, a STOCK civic Coupe VTEC they already have 100KW on wheel

But my car isn't slow, because i race with a stock type R before and i won about an car space....
but it's really werid on the dyno tune result for my car. And i am sure that the problem is not come from the Shops that i dyno tune it.

Can some one help me out on this?
thanks!

Hey Matty, those figures seem a bit low, but apparently every dyno is different. If that was just a drop in filter, I cant see you getting 5.5kw from a drop in filter at the wheels. There dyno might be different or settings werent right, or even the car wasnt running right.
If it was a pod filter, then this power increase might be possible. But arent our celicas supposed to have like 118kw or so at the wheels?

Most Honda Integra Type R's (DC2- previous shape) dyno high 90's to 100kw at the wheels on a Australian dyno's. I think thats a pretty good yard stick to compare our cars to as they were rated at 141kw at the flywheel stock.

Couple of questions,

Only chnage in bewteen each run was only different panel air filter?
You used the same workshop to dyno your car?
You dyno'd your car on the same day for both mods?
What was the weather temp. on the day you dyno'd your car?

Numbers can vary from workshop to workshop. Varies from 0-5+kw at the wheels. Any temp of about 27 degrees celcuis plus on the day you dyno your car, the numbers will read a bit lower than they would on a cooler day. Thats because they don't correct for different ambient temp like the American Dynojet ones do.

I dyno'd 98kw at the wheels on one dyno and a week later I went to another workshop and got 105kw at the wheels for the same mods (intake & exhaust).

They are really only good for a tuning tool to compare power gains/losses for mods when tuning your car. There are more accurate machines out there if your concerned about outright peak HP figures.

Yes, the only difference is the K&N and TRD filter

You used the same workshop to dyno your car?
NO it's a different workshops

No i dyno my car about 1 month later for the K&N

What was the weather temp. on the day you dyno'd your car?
ahh i think both is a hot day(Sunny), but does it really a big difference on the temp? because they both have a BIG fan running infront of the engine so... that's doesn't effect the temp right??

Thanks for ur help M-spec....
and i got a few question to ask u,
For ur Cusco under brace how much is it cost? and do u really feel a much improvment in cornering?
And how much do u pay for the Apexi Power FC tune?

You can't directly compare dyno run printouts from different workshops. Thats why there was a 5kw difference in the readouts.

Your going to get a different reading at say like on a 22 degree day compared to a 30+ degree day with same mods even with the fan infront of your car.

Cusco cost me $200 but RRP is more like $250. Its on back order in Japan, ordered it at the end of Jan. I get discounts from the shop I buy form because I buy alot of stuff from them. Should be comming in soon. I'll let you know how it goes.

Paid $600 cash for the installation/dyno time and tuning for the Apex'i Power FC. How much did they charge you for the SAFC tune?

Ok thanks for your help...

i reckon the cusco bar is quite cheap, and also the power FC fit and tune cost 500 in here
The SAFC tune is CHEAP it's about 110, but the installation is expensive, because the wiring diagram is not in the manual so i download the 1 from newcelica.org, and they said it's too complex so they charge me 270 for the installation :(
anyway i am getting the TANABE front bar in the middle of this month
