Its does that because our 2ZZ motors are super strong. NOT
Its typical were and tear on the car. Mine did it after the first time I hit VVTL. I guess they but the VVTL in for a selling point but dont really expect you to use it.

don't listen to cruzerz545, he's just pissed at his car cuz he misshifts and blames it on the engine, when its 100% his fault. His car has problems because of him, not the car. The majority of people on this board have no major problems with the car.

At any event, the pingin may be caused by the fuel. Make sure you use premium for gas. If you use normal unleaded, you will get pingin.

I would try a different brand of premium gas. Did you read the conversation on CR?

maybe your combustion chamber is building up deposits causing preignition, try some fuel system cleaner(make sure its oxygen sensor and CAT safe) and continue to use premium gas.

there was a post on something like this a long time ago where it showed that not all gas are the same. i think it was like arco's gas sucks. something about cleaning the tanks.. how if the gas is really good it shouldnt take a long time where as the "cheaper" gas have some kind of buildup in the tanks

ill check on that one, thanks. well is there any other reason for the pinging anyway, other than the "cheap" gas?

Oh, I posted that a while ago. It was a link to the is300 board. Some guy knew a person who clean gas station holding tanks and the Arcco station was the WORST. Apparently because the gas quality suck.

Also, all gas is not the same. Just because it has the same octane rating doesn't mean it's the same. If you pump the superlead gas from say, Chrevon or Shell, compare to the cheap crap like Arcco or Valero(formerly exxon), Costco. You should be able to feel the difference. The pickup and so forth should be much better then the cheap gas station....

i put in shell, so shouldn't i be fine, or maybe i should move to 94 octane at sunoco... what do you guys think? this pinging is just bothering me cuz i know there is something wrong? is this really really bad for the engine? should i just go somewhere to get it fixed if its really bad?
