I would like to know if it is really necessary to wash the car every week. Is it still safe to leave the car unwashed for a month? will the dirt dull the paint or is this ok?
Alot of you guys wash weekly but i'm lazy so I washed it every 3 weeks to a month.
If the dirt does dull the paint I will wash more often.
I leave my car inside the carport and there is no bird droppings and such, just fine dirt.

I don't think waiting a month or so is bad. The main problem that would occur would be staining caused by bugs or bird droppings. Maybe water spots, too, but they can be removed. Although it is much easier to wash the car weekly than monthly (a ton less dirt = less time to wash). If we didn't have water restrictions here, I'd be washing and Zainoing the car every other week.

BTW, this should've been posted in the Wash and Wax forum. :)

Hmm....if you care about the appearance of your car, I wouldn't do either. Kinda like asking which is worse.....cutting off the left nut or the right one.....either way it sucks.

I wax about once a month. I was at least once a week. If I had my own place with running water and a garage, I'd do it every few days. I can't stand even a dusty car....so maybe that's just me.

HEHE i wash 2-3 times a week LOL and i have a waxing cycle so my car is always shiney. I only wax some components of the car after i wash it. And just switch components of the car every time i wash.

Most people know that the water restrictions aren't because of the lack of water its actuelly because they can't purify the water and **** fast enough. So america needs better water facilitys.

Unless there's a water restriction, you should get you lazy butt out there and wash that car. It'll only take an hour. Washing regularly is one of the best ways to keep you car looking new. Bird dropping contains a lot of acid so that will ruin your paint.

I thought waxing every 6 months was adequate? That is how I do it. Waxing every month is a bit too soon I think.

i wash my car every week, and wax the car every 3 months, or when i notice its losing it soft touch. but due to "love-bugs" here in florida, i wax the front twice, cause those fck-ers will eat the paint if left on. love bugs:bang:

yea.. i usually wash a couple times every two weeks and i try to wax in cycles but i just cant stand the car not looking totally uniform (even tho you cant really tell... I can tell!) yano what i mean. so i end up waxing it perty often too.. (about once a month) how often should we actually polish the car along with waxing?

There is no such thing as too much care for a finish my friend......

Your dam right! I have spent the past 5 days detailing my car and it by most peoples standards wasn't even dirty. I only drive my car twice a month and it sits in a garage 320 days out of the year. I'm a freak though. If there is dirt on my suspension/underbody or a finger print on a window I get upset.

well washing your car frequently like 2-3times doesnt have any effects on the paint?

sorry guys.. I'm a lamer when it comes to wax. Waxing, is that the stuff you put on your car that turns to a white haze.. and then you buff it off later after it dries?

Or is that polishing? I'm confused what the difference is.
