Saw one in person finally . . . . omigod - I almost came in my pants. It looks so much better than any other Porsche, perfect lines, great vents. You have to see it in person, the pictures do no justice (Kinda like the BMW 6-Series).

Also - the sound - its a bit more butch than the Boxster S (3.4L v. 3.2) but its the same mechanical flat-6 growl . . . . . actually sounds a lot like the 993s.

Kinda like the Exige vs Elise, it's not worth the upgrade from a car enthusiast standpoint. We love a bargain even at $50k, but at $70k out the door, it's hard to justify the cost increase vs the performance. The owner demographics for this car are probably the same as for the Carrera - old men in mid-life crises driving the speed limit in the right lane.

Its 0-60 is identical to the Carrera, and its about 9 seconds faster around the Nurbergring

MUCH stiffer chassis than the Boxster, plus it has more horsepower and more displacement, so a better torque curve - plus a more aggressive suspension and lots of cargo room

It's a given that a coupe will have a stiffer chassis and more cargo room than a equivalent convertible; and a ligher car with the same engine will likely perform better than a heavier car (Carrera).

What I don't get is that it's usually convertibles that cost more than the hardtop because of the added hardware and retractable top. No matter how you look at it, the Boxster is a bargain compare to the Cayman - if you can ever consider a $50k car a bargain. I beg to differ that the 3.4l engine will cost that much more to produce.

My dad told me he was buying one of these about a month ago, hasnt happened yet. Hopefully It will be there next time I visit him in NC so I can test it out on the mountain roads :)

They look sick in person with the spoke wheels not those crappy base model wheels.

Looks so much better than any other Porsche is a bold statement. It does have sexy lines but I still prefer the 997 with the aero kit. I have not had a chance to drive the cayman, however I did drive my buddies carrera s and it was automotive bliss. I truly cant immagine a more balanced car.

I like it, but at 70k+ loaded its way too expensive. We're talking z06 money here. Just get a used elise for around 40 and turbocharge it for another 10 and you'll be very happy, trust me. The ladies will be all over you too :naughty:

I've read reports of C6 Z06 owners who used to own a C5 Z06 trading the C6 in and getting a C5 back - they feel the C5 is more of a driver's car, more fun, has better usable torque for daily driving, and doesn't get really really hot inside.
