I'm heading out to Scottsdale Arizona tomorrow morning for Thanksgiving. This is the first long trip for the Batmobile. Just wondering what's the most miles you've gotten from a full tank of gas. I think I can make it out there on one tank. Distance is about 400 miles from San Diego to Scottsdale. Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

Bat:)

700 km, which was mostly highway but I killed the last 1/4 of the tank by busting around town ;)

none :)

this was after i had the dual exhaust put on along with teh CAI, and tire pressure at 35psi. true sign of a hp gain from the duals...the improved gas mpg...same thign im now getting with the pulley, headers, sires and new plugs..

errr wait.....im sorry....i own a mustang...it gas guzzles the most expensive gas out there and only gets 4 mpg ;)

I don't think you stand a chance. I drive from LA to Chandler on a regular basis and I've never made it. You can get really close, but not all the way.

Ya, I thought it would be cutting it close. We'll see.

That just doesn't sound right. You're running on a V6....and you have a 13.5 gallon tank.

but hey I could careless:)

Anywho, the highest I've gone with my celica was 415 miles I could've gone a little more...but I didn't want to risk it.

I used cruise control and these were Highway miles not city miles.

11-22-2001, 12:07 PM
i never get good gas mileage.. 300 is really the most..usually around 230 or so..

400-410 miles with one light left to go (so i used up about 11-11.9 gallons). i drove it quite hard. redlining like a mofo at every other clear light. 98 octane.

Blue Batmobile

Well I made it:)! With one bar left on the gas gauge I got 409 miles from San Diego to Scottsdale, Arizona. Boy, there are alot of Celica's out here too:).

drove from Anaheim [think Disneyland] all the way home to Stockton [about 30 miles south of Sacramento] with 3 bars of gas to spare. Come to think about it, I had 3 other people and a trunk load of luggage so that's pretty damn good. I used 87 octane gas coming home.

Your car can run on "zero ticks" of gas for a good while. A full zero ticks is about a gallon of gas still.

celica2k
11-22-2001, 09:51 PM
i got about 360 miles, none were on the highway, and a redline here
and there. oh and dont run on none of the bars lit up for a very long time,
i was on my way to a gas station when i had to stop on a hill, and the car
felt like it was just about to stall, i would have felt really stupid running
out of gas at a busy intersection. from now on i make sure it stays at a
resonable level

430 miles ZERO ticks left on the gauge highway and city driving never shifted over 3500

my car's gas tank is 15.7 gallons..not 13.5 ;)

Blue Batmobile

I always wondered how much gas was left after all the bars on the gas gauge were gone. I think I've traveled about 5 miles after the bars had dissappeared before I refueled.

Well, just casue it is a V6 doesn't mean it can'e be effcient ya know...

For my car, the best I have gotten is just under 32 mpg on the highway, which equates to just over 400 miles until the low fuel light comes on and if I am feeling frisky, could go to almost 500 miles until fuel becomes a must.

For normal around town driving I am getting aboue 28mpg or around 350--390 miles until fill-up time.

I can go about 320 miles before my fuel light comes on. Unfortunately that's 22 gallons (of premium) at 14.5 MPG. Oh well. Didn't buy it for the gas mileage. :D

The best I have gotten was 427 with one bar left. I had a trip from Washington Dc to Syracuse NY. I made it there and 1/3 the way back on one tank. I have found that there is a significant difference in gas mileage when the windows and the sunroof are closed. I had the cruise control set on 75mph the entire way w/o the ac or heater on, just the vent. I was on Edmunds.com and they stated a max range of 500+. I would love to know how they did that!!! The only thing I could do is slow down to 55-60mph to reduce RPMs to 2300 instead of 2700

90% of my driving is city driving. My work is about 2 miles away, and most places I go are within 10 miles away from my house. I average between 330-350 miles per tank.

My best mileage was 452, driving at an average speed of 75mph, 15-30 minute stretches of 85-90mph, on a warm summer day with very little humidity. traveling from Milwaukee to Columbus, OH. Used 14.3 gallons of premium fuel out of a possible 14.5. running on fumes when I filled up. Two ticks on my gas gauge leaves 3.5 gallons remaining. I know, I drive 200 highway miles each day for work. need to fill up everyother day, anywhere from 410-420miles, which includes some city driving. with one tick left and 409 on the ode, you still had about 30-40 miles left:eek:

Just got back from a two day trip. Filled the tank before I left. Went 400 miles with 2 ticks left. Filled the tank back up with 12.4 gallons. 90% was highway driving going 70-75.

I travel from Rochester, NY to Waltham, MA (10 miles out of boston) on one tank of gas and still have some gas (maybe a gallon or two) left over. I believe it is a little less than a 400 miles trip and takes 6 hours. So i can go a little over 400 miles, on one tank...

I've kept track of my mileage from when I bought my car (at 6km). I've got about 3600kms (2250miles) now and I get 650km (city) and about 800km (hwy). That's 375miles (city) and 495miles (hwy) for everyone that uses miles. My GT has a 55 litre tank (14.5 US gal).

On another note...I live on a border town and put 13.5 gal in and it only cost me 12.50 US. Gas was about $0.96/gallon. That was in Northern Michigan on Sunday.

At the point I filled up, The low fuel light was on and I had no bars remaining. I've noticed that my low fuel light will come on and then go back off for another few miles before it comes back on again. Does that happen to anyone else?

I'm gonna try no to run it so low anymore...it will allow the sediment and debris in your tank into your lines/filters/pumps, etc. which can cause problems.

394 before the fuel gauge went on. this happened when the car started with 48 miles on it. strait from the dealer. i didn't have to full it up for a month.

as you see i don't do much driving.

Yeah same here! Maybe a little more like 11miles after the last orange bar disappeared. I have gotten 400 miles out of my GT when I first bought the car, but if I push it all the way...I can maybe get a little over 380 miles per tank now;)
