Im looking into getting a GTI VR6, after i wrecked my celica...:(. I saw an integra that i was gonna get today, but it appears that it was sold, and there are no other type R models around.
Anyways - im not to sure about the Vr6's, but im almost positive that im going to get a 2000-2001...am i going to be dissapointed? I thought vr6's were bad ass, but i coiuld be mistaken, and i have had a hard time finding out info on them. There is a jetta vr6 around too, but i think i like the GTI's more...it all depends though :). Also is the 2000 model different than the 01?
Thanks for your help, i know your not a GTI vr6 board...but i have seen a few around, and i have money saved up from where i was gonna turbo the celica...i think this MIGHT be an option...since there isnt much else around. Thanks again...still wish i had the celi.

my buddy had a 01' gti vr6...the massive tq is something celica gts can't match. the windows will drop, they have a recall on them, interior is very nice though...great 90degree angle motor.
i would recommend a 02' gti 1.8t cause it's easier and much cheaper to mod one. add a $300 chip, you can be at 200whp...

v dubs are a pain to maintain though...but show great gains with aftermarket mods...just never take them to a vw dealership or be prepared to get reamed..

get a 1.8t. like raging paseo said, you can get up to 200 with a chip.
but remember, vw's have renowned quality issues

the new 06 GTI gets 250-270 after being chipped. 300lbs of torque.

great 90degree angle motor.
VR6 motors are 15 degrees... that's how they got away with using one head instead of two... did something change recently?

Had one before buying the celica. Best go cart on the road. Drop it, mag it, intake and exhaust it, and call it a day. It tears some serious ass and when you floor it, it sounds like a 747. You will not regret a Vr6. I had 22,000$ of mods on mine.....then they stole it :bang: Bastar*s
