How do you subscribe to a thread without...

How do you subscribe to a thread so that it appears on your listing of subscribed threads when you are in your CP without checking the "email notification" box off?

I don't like getting email notifications every time there's a post.. but I do want it to be listed under my subscribed threads.

I still dont see where the option is to subscribe to a thread... I see the option to subscribe to Forums. anyone want to post a screenshot?
