I was thinking about doing some research and possably getting a MR2 (not sure what year thought). I've done some looking around on some other forums, and it seems i always come back to this one because i really couldn't find a good MR2 forum. I'm really looking for a car that has T-tops (i had a 88 camaro that had them and i love everything about them) and i saw a few pictures of the 93 MR2 spyders with T-Tops, i was also wondering if there were any 2000+ models made with hard tops, looks like all of them are convertables. i would love some feed back on this. It's been kind of bothering me for the past few days. If only there was a 2000+ MR2 with T-tops / Targa top i would be gitty over that. I really do like the way the 2000+ MR2 look. they kind of look like bugs from the front, hehe. and the fact it's Rear wheel drive i guess is a plus. If you guys have any information you can give me or anything at all, just hollar

The 3rd gen MR2's, with the bug front, are all convertibles AFAIK, though you can purchase a hard top, it's not a *fixed* top.

The 2nd gen MR2's come in both targa and hardtop.

hollar! hollar!

Why would you only want T-Tops when you could have a full convertible? The Spyder's chassis is definitely strong enough to handle no roof, so there's really no downside except maybe wind noise. But T-Tops have flaws, too (aka leaking).

i have been thinking about getting a 2nd gen mr2.

i like the way they look. you can find them with the 3sgte. and ive heard of some people doing a v6 swap in them.

IMHO they are the best looking gen so far. plus you can get a snorkel and it looks freakin awesome.

Yeah, know they can leak. Was thinking either T-Tops or a targa top. For me it would be more or less the fact i really don't like convertables. I would rather have a hard top that can come off, then a soft top that folds up in the back, could get ripped, people can stab with a knife. And the noise that also comes with verts... Bajebus!

I'm just kick around some ideas. Maybe if i can get a garage i could just remove the entire convertable part and have a cruser type car...

I love the 1st and 3rd gens - 2nd gen is . . . meh, cool car but doesn't have the soul or fun factor of the 1st gen, nor the telepathic steering ability of the 3rd gen (that car is literally point and drive).

If you were to chose between 1st and 3rd which one would you go for?

3rd gen hands down - just cuz its newer and nicer, also more aftermarket (2zz swap anyone?). Pisses me off its only 4 bolt rims though.

3rd gen hardtops with no sunroof in good condition are hard to find. Good luck.
