Well, I've been talking to Scott over at Trial, and since the TRD Helical LSD is discontinued (right?), I got to talking to him about Trial's LSD for the Elise. Yes it will work on our cars too, and it is also helical!
Here's a link www.elise.shopts.com click on the Elise parts section to find it.

Why don't you just get a Spyder LSD or a Quafe? Its the same thing and will be much cheaper.

exactly. It's not so much a performance part to me as it is another JDM item for shows. Call it what you will, my Celi is not a race car. The soon-to-come GNX will be though

with all the money I bet you JDM guys have spent on jdm stuff you probably could have flown to japan and bought a celica. I was stationed there for 4 years and could care less if a part is JDM or USDM. I would rather pay $50 for something that is in the U.S.A then $100 for the same part from japan.

I am not trying to diss you guys or anything although I know it sounds that way I just don't get it.

I have an 8-5 m-f job. Unless Jp has HP training courses (which I highly doubt) I won't be able to go to Jp for quite some time. Besides, it's a hobby. I know you're not trying to diss us, it's all good. I'm just in it to have a worthy show car, have an exclusive car (parts 99% of Celi owners don't have), and to have fun with it.
My overall goal in the next couple of years is to have this car done (which will be pretty soon), have a race car (in the works), and a nice DD.

When I first bought the celica it was for my wife who was in japan. She got here and she can't drive stick I tried to teach her and 6 months later she still can't drive stick so I bought her a 92 subaru legacy. I modded the celica a little and at one point the wife and I wanted to make a show car out of it so I understand the exclusive part.

So I bought a 92 3000Gt VR4 to mod but it broke alot when I first got so I never got a chance to mod so it is bone stock and for sale since I have put money in the celi. I should be going to japan next year for 3 more years and I will bring my celi.

It depends on what you want out of it. If you have the money for it, I'd suggest Quaife because it has a lifetime warranty even if raced with. Other than that, I think there's a sticky about LSDs in Performance. I might be wrong about the sticky though

I don't know exactly yet but I want to try to get at least $6,000 for it, but right now is misfiring and can't figure it out and it's been a month. I will not sell the car broken.

I understand that. I'm sure you've looked at your plugs and all that stuff in relation to your misfiring, right?

Haha, I like this part in the description:

"We recommend this LSD to those who WANT to lose traction coming in and out of corners."

Besides the typo, I think you should get it!

"We recommend this LSD to those who WANT to lose traction coming in and out of corners."
crazy Japanese lost in translation... like how Google translates the Celica as the 'Mosquito'? haha
back on topic. so how much is this LSD?

from the site:
Exige/Elise111R 1.5 way L.S.D.We recommend this LSD to those who want to lose traction coming in and out of corners.
This LSD offers a secure lock while at the same time keeping a smooth cornering.
Also, because it is a quiet LSD, you keep the Lotus Elegance.
L.S.D. 1.5 Way$1354.50
But I did get confirmation that it will work on the Celica

What we need now is another overpriced LSD. Back in the days before it was discontinued, both Quaife and TRD helical were both around $700. Parts should be cheaper is it progresses, not the other way around.

Quaife used to cost around $700 before they discontinued it. The current offering manufactured by Quaife for MWR.

www.horsepowerfreaks.com also sells it. Same price, though. Just saying it's not totally exclusive to MWR.

They may have the application listed, but I somehow doubt they can get it. If you goto Quaife USA site and look up Celica, it says to contact MWR.

Funny thing I've found....
http://www.horsepowerfreaks.com/pictures/Toyota/Celica/1410
This 2001 Toyota Celica owned by James Lee has not been dynoed yet. This vehicle sports Street tires. This vehicle has a 1.3L motor in it. This vehicle is turbocharged and utilizes a Stock turbo. It utilizes a 5 Spd transmission. Valve duration and lift is controlled by Stock cams. The intake charge is injested via a Stock intake. This air is then intercooled with a Stock intercooler. Exhaust gasses are expelled through a Stock exhaust.

Oh well, what can one do if they don't yet have it? Personally, I'm so impressed with everything I've been getting from Trial. Besides, who in the Celica community even HAS a Trial? That's called exclusivity in its purest form, at least until others start to get it.

I tried that too... call up Quaife UK and told them I'm in the US. They say go talk to MWR.

for $920, you'll end up paying alot of import tax, expensive shipping since it's freaking heavy.... etc etc... probably be like $1300 at the end.....

If I were to get Helical LSD now, I would just go with MR2 helical LSD... Helical LSD is so strong, it would be impossible to break that thing...

Ah well, I guess it's only a good idea if you guys are on holiday over here - it would fit in your hand luggage :chuckles:

What sort of fitting cost are you guys looking at? I'm going to have to sell an organ to pay to have mine fitted :(

Toyota dealer wants like 1000 to install the clutch and flywheel... plus like another 1000 for the LSD...

I went to tranny specialist and installed it for 800, include clutch, flywheel and LSD... also change the 6th gear(it had little chip on it)
