I have been everywhere for a engine and the closest thing i can find is a 1zz-fe out of a 98-99 corolla with 60k for 500.00. Is this an identical block? will my head and exteranal parts bolt on for the swap? I understand there are holes that need drilled to support the half shaft bracket. What else would need done if it will work at all. I need info quick...thanks!!

I am pretty sure that series of the 1zz-fe did not come with VVT-i.

i just need to know if its the same block, vvt-i is just in head i thought. I know its very similar i just need to know if the 01 stuff will bolt on to the short block b/c i found a 98 and 99 1zz-fe with 19k for like 250.00.

i dont think for that year block you have to drill the holes for the support bracket cause ive swapped it in mine before, but not sure about the year, right now im currently running a 1zz off a corolla.

It is a direct bolt on for the head and parts are all corresponding, just to let you know

^what year is the block you have in your car? Is the non-vvt-i 1zz-fe the same block as the 1zz-fe with vvt-i? If your block is pre-01 corolla then im gonna be very happy bc the corolla 1zz engine without vvt-i was the same 98-00 i believe, im just hoping its JUST the top end thats different.

all zz engines have VVT-i. My sister's 98 Corolla has a VVT-i engine.

incorrect. The older model corolla/prizm and so on doesnt have vvt-i, the head can be swapped out to become vvt-i though

well on the 8th gen corolla .. the first one to have 1zzfe doesnt have VVT-i .. but it does vvt not w/ inteligence cause my sister has a 99corolla and it has same function as VVTi around 4,000 RPM.. ones w/ VVTi is the second gen 1zzfe.. oh and both have different intake manifolds..

damn all i wanna know is if the 98 block will fit in my celica lol no one has answered my question yet lol. Someone said they are running a corolla block but i have no idea what year he is running in it bc the body style changed in 01...i KNOW the 01 and up will fit but i dont know if the 98-00 will fit or not.

yes in italy a friend replace the celica gt block with a 1 ZZfe from an avensis(that was the same of corolla), but the year was 2002 , my only question is ...really in the 98 the corolla engine was already vvti??

but is the block the same in 98 as every other year 1zz? does anyone know? this motor does NOT have vvt-i , i already know that but i dont care if it does or not as long as i can swap my vvt-i head over. :AF:

you might want to order new piston rings while ur at it too, cause mine had a huge oil consumtion problem, like 1qt every week

haha yeah i might....i dont want to take it a part and risk ****ing it up a good block...most likely im just gonna swap my **** over and see how it does....as long as it runs good and doesnt smoke i can trade it in and have it paid off once and for all...im gonna trade it in on another celica with a lower interest rate and lower miles. i dont wanna get rid of the celica so im just gonna get another one bc i just love the car, i dont care if its fast or not, its a all around blast to drive
