Im seriously thinking about buying an E36 BMW. That is my favorite body style.

What are yous guys opinions on that and if you know of any issues that are common with those, i will listen.

pretty reliable car if you maintain it - great, flat torque band - see tons of them still on the road.

The E36 is an aging platform. Since you're planning on buying used, why don't you search for an E46 instead? IMO the E46 coupes are pretty muscular looking, and you could probably score a nice deal on some of the older E46's.

The only used E36 I would get is the M3 ... make sure it's stick, too, because there are plenty of auto M3's around.

Back on topic ... when I had my M3, the only problem I had was that the thermostat kept busting, ultimately resulting in the engine overheating. Never found the cause, though. Just kept replacing the thermostat and praying it would last. :chuckles:

Ive looked into getting an E46, but I prefer the style of the E36 for some reason, and that could be something to do with my old 3rd gen maxima which had some similarities.

E46's are also a little too high for me. I can easily afford them, but i would like to just buy the next car outright instead.
