I decided to clay bar my car today. Damn that thing takes forever to get those contaminants off. Specifically tree sap. I had to go back and forth over one spot for like 10 minutes straight inorder to remove the sap. Well worth it though.

yeah the dealer basically ruined my entire 2 week old car's paint job with clear overspray. Someone hit my front bumper and i brought it in for replacement. The dealer replaced it and painted it without covering my car. then when they washed it they got reallllllllyyyyy bad swirl marks over the entire car (which is carbon blue). So i got the clay bar and it removed all the overspray real fast, but not the swirl marks.

For the swirl marks, either wax the car or use 3M Rubbing Compound.

For the swirl marks, I'd recommend Zainos Z5.

A claybar will not mess up the paint.

The clay bar will not mess up the paint. Make sure not to drop it on the ground! If you do tear off the part that touched down or throw it out and get a new piece. It should help the overspray problem.
Your steps above are correct.

I just clayed my car today, and it's amazing how smooth the paint is. God I love these things.

Does the clay bar take out faint scratches that are in the vehicle? --- If not then could someone tell me what the best product that DOES remove faint scratches is? --Thanks

The clay doesn't take out scratches.

Thoroughly clean and clay the area to remove contaminants before using scratch remover products. Polish and wax afterwards. If your fingernail can catch in them, they are too deep and simple hand products won't remove them. Consult a professional.
