Are the OBX Iridium spark plugs a good quality? I found some on ebay for $26 with shipping? Is that a good deal? Will they really last 60,000 miles? Just curious need to buy some soon and want a good quality. What do you reccommend?

I don't know... I wouldn't touch that. For about the same price, you can get the regular NGK or Denso.

There have been quality issues w/OBX. Get the OEM Iridiums... they last longest.

The OEM's are different than the over the counter Densos. You can get the OEMs @ dealers or some of the discount dealer websites like www.discounttoyotaparts.com etc.

The over the counter Densos are better performers vs. the OEMs.....they have a smaller diameter electrode..... but their recommended change interval is every 30K vs. the 60K (by the book) OEMs (the dealer's really say 90K changes). Also, if I read this right & from my poor recollection... the OTC Densos don't have the platinum tipped ground. Which may explain why some members have reported burnt off grounds on some plugs.

"Q. How long will Iridium Last?
A. Iridium use represents the most significant technological advance in automotive spark plug manufacturing, since platinum was introduced in the early eighties. As vehicle manufacturers produce increasingly complex and efficient automobiles, there is a greater need for long-life plugs that can tolerate leaner fuel mixtures and improved combustion processes. DENSO has responded to this need by developing its Iridium alloy, originally for OE applications. For example, [U]many newer Lexus

Yes you can get the O.E. Denso plugs over the counter, I replaced mine after I Seafoamed my car in October last year. I still have th old ones for when I Seafoam again and I gaged them between .040 and .045 with oh I say a 1/32 of the 4mm tip lift after 75,000 miles of use. Sounds like changing them every 30,000 sound about right for maintaining performance, might be able to go 50,000 in N/A if you don't care with not much penalty.

That's for the IK's... not the OEMs

I just looked this up, the ones that come with the Celica from the dealer are called Iridium Tough, long lasting. The ones I put in are Iridium Power, needs to be changed at shorter intervals. So yeah as noted above.

Yup, supposedly better performance... but shorter lifecycle
