i got those Kumo Ecsta on my car just recently i got them on my 18" Motegi rims, but i couldnt really tell you too much cause I havent pushed my car since i got them, but I have taken a few turns "fast" and it grips good compared to my old tires but they were pretty messed up so i dont really know yet untill i really drive my car, but for $85 a tire im cool with them right now.

cool beans... I may have to downgrade from my toyo t1-s' since money is tight when the time comes to buy new tires. At least I don't race at all, probably never will since gas prices are so high. :(

Max grip Kumhos? Are those the new gen of Ecsta MX? If not, I'd say get the MX's -- outstanding dry grip and generally excellent wet grip.

Just bought a set of Falken Azenis RT-615. If you're on a budget look at the Hankook Ventus Z212

How do you like them? I was thinking of going to either these or back to the MX's next. Is it true they have an, er, odd smell after they warm up (read this on the auto-x forum...)

I have the ASX's, they are phenomenal all weather tire with great treadwear. I'm not that much of an aggressive driver that I use to be and I think these are perfect for me. Dry traction is a little above average, but wet is amazing. I use to have the yoko ES100's and I f-ing hated those tires. They didn't last a bit and they had great traction for about a month or so, but then again, I was a much more aggressive driver. :shrugs:

I decided to try the ASX tires but am disappointed in them because of the amount of noise they produce. According to Tirerack they are supposed to be above average in the noise department...

I was thinking about the ECSTA ASX. But I hear mixed things about road noise and handling. When compared to the stock potenza's that come on the GT, how are they in noise and handling?

They are amazing, it's a big step up from the max performance tires I've had like the Toyo T1-S, Bridgestone S-03, and the most recent Goodyear Eagle DS-G3. The Azenis is very heavy and sidewall is stiff as hell which makes it a rougher ride, however it's very quiet even more so than the snow tires with huge sidewalls it replaced.
I went autocrossing with the Azenis yesterday and I was in the novice class (my first time). I took 1st out of 10 novices. If they class me in the normal STS class I would have taken 2nd or 3rd. I was about .5 behind the 1st place STS winner in a 46 second course.

I just got around to trying the Kumho SPTs. Dry traction is okay but wet traction is pretty damn good. I was originally going to try the Ecsta MX's but I heard the threadwear on those are horrible. Can anyone with MX's give some feedback if this is true?

What do you guys think about Toyo Proxies S4? I was thinking of getting 215/40/17 for the new rims that i'm getting as well.

The Kumho Ecsta SPTs kicked ass in the wet on a National level autocross a few weeks ago, I heard. As for the Kumho Ecsta ASX's, I have personally seen them in the wet and they were PHENOMEMAL. A guy had a set on his 350Z at an autocross last year and he was much faster than most drivers there. And it was a new tire and car for him.
