I'm trying to get a trd sc for my 1zz-fe but the only thing I need to know is what type of kit I should get, the matrix? or the corolla? or is not a big problem?

i believe they're the same..

Yeah, i think they are the same but you can not use the wiring harness from the matrix/corolla on the celica. You also need the bumpy hood.

if I cannot use the wiring hardness what can I use instead for the connections? the bottom line is I'm going to install it myself and I need to know all the parts that i need for the installation and where to get them.
for the hood im just going to make a hole myself and then patch it with fiberglass and then paint it.

buy an e-manage blue, or ultimate. or even PFC. don't use the 5th injector setup, either see if you can up the duty of the stock injectors or buy some larger injectors from hass (hass size 380cc aka 420cc's will work) or someone. and then that will solve your fuel issues and your tuning issues.

..... and a new hood. I forgot what it's called. Your OEM hood will not close.

Everything you need can be found with a search. The only thing unknown is which exact gatorback belt to buy. Not sure if gt211 or anyone else ever found that out.

so is this what I need?
hood
e-manage
trd supercharger
gatorback belt
corolla or matrix trd sc kit (or I dont need this?)

do I need to change the ecu as well?

The Emanage is changing the ECU :fallsover: It's called a piggy-back. I'm sure if you would use the search button for 10sec you would find everything you need to know.

Most Covered Topic.

But, Here is what you'll need
AIT/TRD Hood - Or Custom make one
Emanage Blue or Ultimate or Even better the PFC
TRD S/C kit W/O the TRD ECU
New Gator Belt - Still can't find the size.
Matrix T/B
Lots of fun custom work... and maybe alittle more knowledge before you start doing this..

I'm alittle scared that you will prob come back and say "**** I blew my car up, would do I do?"

HAHA! Seriously do we need to walk you through this. Call the person say "Yes, I'd like the TRD S/C without the TRD ECU, what is the final price?" Thats ALL you need to do

I guess I just assumed it came as a package deal, and thus you HAD to buy everything together. But thanks for the walkthrough! :D

Where do i begin.... Well for all who are wondering Gt211 hit it on the button, and i never did find out the belt but i found a Dayco Part # 5060850. my s/c is comming soon from Toyota i can't wait. I will definetly post pics when i'm finished this august or early september. The Hood(B-magic) you can get from SCO for 650 shipped a new throttle body matrix can run 796$ but used you can get them for like 200 or talk to Carver and see if his adaptor plate worked. EVERYONE THAT IS INTERESTED IN THE TRD S/C should check out spyderchat for WEBIII , and carver they are doing some really neat stuff ie; swapping out the blowers thus bumping horses up from 180 to 220-250hp!!!!
Although i'm still waiting for the final verdict on his project so i know what's going to fall through , apparently if all goes well, carver and his pals over at spyderchat are going to be making a kit, which would be sweet! Anyhow i just thought i'd pass along the information.

I'm reviving this thread because I felt it was needed and relevant to my question.

I'm trying to get enough research done while I'm saving up for a supercharger for my GT, and I just need a couple questions answered that I can't seem to find direct answers to.

First of all, since the TRD superchargers are becoming practically impossible to find now, I wanted to use the GM supercharger out of a Pontiac Vibe.
If I get a supercharger made for the '03 Vibe will it still work with my '02 Celica??

Also, I need to know when I use that supercharger will I need the Vibe's throttle body as well?? I ask this because I wasn't sure if they had used the DBW in '03 base model Vibe's. I do know that they have it in the '05 models.

One more thing. Will I still be able to use my Injen CAI as long as I can reposition it?? OR will I have to get a short ram from a Vibe??

Thanks to anyone who can answer these!!!

the ibe is the same car, everything should transfer....

Thanks Smaay. I knew they had the same engine and all that. But their engine bay layout was a little different.

Has anyone done this before??

^^^ If you get an emanage, get the ultimate -- don't waste time with the blue. If you use a piggyback, get a OBDII reader than can data log like the one from Auterra that is used with a laptop or palm pilot. Check out my recent thead on tuning out fuel trims for more details.

I am getting the Power FC from MWR instead of the emanage. As for gauges, I don't want to over-do it or under-do it. This is what I am getting = Boost guage, Oil PSI, and EGT. Will that suffice? Or will I also need an Oil Temp & Boost controller?

all i have is a wideband and boost gauge.

Wideband is most important; boost is nice to know.

Wideband is still needed even w/ the PFC?

Wideband O2 setup and oil pressure is all you need on supercharger.
Boost gauge is to monitoring your setup for boost creeps, but supercharger uses pullies to control boost so you would not need one to watch for boost creeps. Watching oil pressure is more important than a boost gauge on supercharger.
I have not heard boost creeps problem on supercharger...

Ya, I wouldn't think that a boost guage would be needed, but what about a boost controller? How do you up the boost on superchargers, by adding different sized pullies??

Here's a list I made of guages you do/ do not need on a S/C setup. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Yes:
Oil psi; Wideband O2; Oil Temp
No:
Boost psi; Boost Controller; EGT

on a turbo i would see a real necessity for oil press/temp but most superchargers don't require you to tap for a feed from the oil system. so, i say no to needing oil gauges for a supercharger setup.

a wideband is necessary for af tuning. egt could be used for water injection tuning but you can also just advance timing in accordance with knock.

i have the greddy sc and i really use my boost gauge to monitor the infamous deterioration of the bypass actuator valve (increasingly diminishing boost levels and eventually none).

the power fuel control was mentioned as the choice replacement ecu and mostlikely it'll come with the pfc commander. that'll display 1-8 streaming ten second graphs of certain items.

Thanks.^

For anyone that has a TRD S/C themselves. There is a group buy going on now at GenVibe.com for a new pulley sized 2.3.

Thanks for everyones help on this. I really appreciate it!!

Sorry, one more question. All the sites I've looked at that sell this S/C say that I'll need another injector. Is there a purpose for this?

The TRD SC is old news. There is a new GT supercharger kit in production at spyderchat. The TRD sc will be a PITA......

I'll have to check it out then.
EDIT: Ok. checked it out, looks like it's going to require more modification than I'm willing to work with, so I'll be sticking to my project. Thanks!

BTW. I think I'm confusing myself on the tuning needs. Am I right in thinking that I will need the PFC only, or will I need the PFC & a Wideband O2 controller to run the S/C???
