I was with the uk celica club today and we all got our cars dyno'd on a brake type dyno in london. Not a single car hit 190 bhp at the flywheel as claimed by toyota and we were consistently down on al our readings. The lowest figure was a 2003 model with 160 bhp. Results varied, the older pre facelift models tended to come out higher. The highest was 186 bhp with I/E/H

My main point really, is how do you guys on the dyno run list manage to get so much WHEEL horse power??? Your whp figures look like our bhp flywheel figures that we got today!!!

Somebody please give me a feasible explanation for this...its driving me crazy!!!

Those really sound like WHP numbers. Maybe there is something wrong with the software for the dyno that converts it to flywheel hp (incorrect settings)? What kind of dyno were you on?

I'm not sure, please tell me what kind of dyno's there are and i can find out.

They did the pulls in fourth gear. Our whp figures were apparently 130-ish :s

anybody else care to add to this?

When you say apparently 130-ish, are you calculating this or is that what they told you? Dynapacks say flywheel horsepower on the chart but they are really whp numbers.

interesting. no, the wheels figure is what the dyno showed initially, but then the machine calculated the flywheel power as the 170bhp-ish figures we all got, with the exception of a couple.

From what I'm told, we were on a mustang dyno.
