Ok guys, I have a friend who is interested in either one of these and is pretty torn on which one. Not interested in getting a celica. :( And no, he will not be buying a mazdaspeed3.

What does he want? Good handling car or a Bubble Tank....IMHO get the Mazda 3, The tC is WAY too common. My Bro's friend is gettin a tC cus the new SI went up in price. He's an :idiot:

Speaking of Si's, my buddy and I went to the Honduh dealership to check one out, but the dealer wouldn't let us take it off the lot. And I quote, "we can let you drive around in the S2000, but we can't let you go in the Si unless I get a commitment from you ... (offers hand for handshake)." I was like, WTF?! S2000>Si to the infinity!
Back on topic ... yes, the tC is way too common, but I would rather get that over the Mazda3. Wasn't the Mazda3 co-developed with the FORD FOCUS?

^^ Hmm I didnt know that  Well we probably need a Mazda expert on this one. Besides I dont like tCs that much so my opinion is alil biased (sp?) :D

The European Ford Focus and VolvoS40 both stole Mazda's hard work and adopted the Mazda3 platform - the American Focus has no relation to the Mazda3.
Mazda3 all day over the tC - handles better, looks better, more room, 4 doors, and its faster with the 2.3L cuz it weighs less and has a great powerband and appropriate gearing.
Mazda knows how to build a car. I've owned 3 (RX-7, RX-8, Miata), my girlfriend has one (Mazda3) and my good friend has one (boosted Miata) - all are fun as hell to drive.

Yeah, I've noticed that you're a tC hater ...
Why the beef? Your rival drive a tC or something?

Quick question to you who say its "common"
What exactly are you saying there? As in every one has one or as in there just ordinary and bland?
If its the fact every one has one, I dont see that as a down side, that would indicate a larger aftermarket following and that is a good thing.

There's alot of tCs down here, but that's not the main reason. Really its the fact these people automatically think the tC is sports car makes me hate the car itself. :thumbdown For what it is it's okay but I hate when people tell me they can beat a WRX with their tC (for example) The car will never be a "sports" car to me. All these stupid kids with their tCs think they're "race cars". My Celica is not a "sports" car. And dont act like I can beat everyone on the street. I just hate the attitude that a good percentage of tC owners have. Besides the car is fat and will never be as fun to drive as my Celica. One of my friends owns a tC and doesnt act like that so its ok but most other owners are :gay:

Well here in so cal I see 5 a day atleast so thats why I said its "common". I really think that anything you modify on tC is pointless and will never impress me. Its just heavy bubble mobile :faint:

i've test drive the 2.3L mazda 3, it's a great car for it's price. it handles great, plenty of room, power is good, and the clutch it's feather like...if i need a commuter car, it would be my top choice...

they are really really common around here. there are 9 at least in my apartment complex, and 5 xb's.
I was almost going to buy a mazda 3, but my payment woulda been too high. Although i wish i had. They are extremely fun to drive. I was going to get a 5spd hatch. Even the 5spd auto is fun. the manumatic isnt as bad as other cars ive driven.
Like everyone else said, the Mazda 3 underpinnings are used by ford in europe and australia, same with the engines, which the engine is actually used in the fusion and canadian focus'. The volvo s40 also used the same chassis. Its a very fun car to drive and if i could go back and buy a new car right now, it would be one of those.

my GF sisters fiance just got a mazda, im pretty sure its a mazda 3, but then again i went by what my girl said.
i searched online and the entire lineup seems to have some nice torque and hs #'s.
personally i been able to handle rx8 here and their most of the time, loosing by just a car or two @ the most.
rx8 is their "fastest" car right?

I had a 3 for a rental last week, and I loved it. Handling felt similar to a stock Celica, though not as much steering/chassis communication, but the ride was smoother and more comfortable. Good brakes, decent acceleration (I had the auto with the shifter controls), and a pretty quiet ride. Seats aren't the greatest when it comes to lateral support, but they're still fairly comfortable. The seating position definitely doesn't make the car feel as tall as it is (take the Focus and Cobalt, for example). Decent interior materials (could use a bit more soft padding on the doors), but a somewhat poor stereo which is one of the few negatives I could find in the car. On a positive note, the glove box is absolutely cavernous! :gap: I do prefer the tC's exterior styling, but I'd definitely get the 3 withouth looking back if I had to choose between the two. rx8 is their "fastest" car right?Mazdaspeed 6. AWD and around 270hp.

I actually prefer the way the mazda 3's look.
the stereo was another down side for me too, there is almost no bass from the speakers. and thats one thing i dont like tooo much about the new mazda'a. theyre HU's are practically built into the dash, so its very hard to upgrade that.
