For those interested in being in the multi caravan to seaside heights, we will be meeting at the Vince Lombardi rest area on the New Jersey Turnpike.
Where: Located between Interchanges 18E/18W and the George Washington Bridge

Joe the beach number @ IBSP is 21, 22 or 23 from what I can remember! Go past the 3 recreational beaches with pavillions down to the non-guarded beaches. Look for the lot on the left with all the cars. FYI - I will be there really early. about 10 or 11 am. Look for the silver Celica.

For those of you that have never been to IBSP before... The first 3 beaches have food vendors, bathrooms and showers. I suggest you stop there on your way down to the 20's if you are hungry or need the facilities. After that the nearest bathroom is an outhouse style facility.

For those of you looking to stay:
Most hotels in the actual Seaside area are over prices sleazetels. When you search for hotels in the area look in Toms River, Brick, and Freehold. They are a distance from the actual beaches but will make up for it.
If you do stay NEAR seaside, I know for a fact the Howard Johnson's on Rt. 37 is open at $150 a night. About a 15 minute drive from the beches.
Cheapest is going to be the Travelodge in Wall Township. About 35 minutes out but $139 a night.
There is also the Hoilday Inn in Toms River at $167 a night. (about 20 minutes away)
Econo Lodge in Lakewood $114 a night - RIGHT near my house. (25 min away)
There are a lot of places that are already booked.


For the 21+:
Saturday night at Jenkinsons Beach Bar there is an excellent cover band playing. The Nerds. The bar is located right on the beach, has a deck on the beach and a pier that extends into the ocean. I guarantee it will be very crowded. Check out all the info at www.jenksclub.com if you are interested in heading over there. I will be there dancing my heart out and singing Bon Jovi songs at the top of my lungs! You are more than welcome to accompany me.

If I can come up with any other info I will gladly usher it a long or of anyone has questions about heading down there and directions feel free to ask me!

You have a working car now, you have no excuse. :D That's at the tail end of my vacation week, and I have a ton of stuff planned to do to the car that week, most notably the suspension (new struts, bushings, alignment, and POR 15 all rusty parts). I also have a coolant flush, rim repaint, distributor seal replacement, front lip install, and paint wetsanding/buffing on the schedule. The suspension would be the only thing holding me back, though, if I need more replacement parts than anticipated. It usually takes 1-4 days to get parts ordered from the stealership.

Someone needs to step up and lead the MA people. I'm seeing at least 3-4 interested people but no one wants to go unless the other guy goes. Make it happen! Some people will be spending the night there, so you can do the same. Krysy knows a lot about the area so she will have some great advice for hotel accomodations and all that jazz.

That for me is: Total distance: 353.5 mi Total travel time: 5.9 hours
Takes @ least 45 mins for me to get to the Pike... either off 128 or up 495... presumably approximating the time from near the NH border. Actually, the shorter route for me is down I95 to I287... but I'd detour to caravan.

Possible link up locations are I495 & I90, I90 & I84, I84 & I91, I84 & I684 (Greg?).

Econo in Lakewood isn't that bad. I used to house everyone there when I held our beach weekend meet for the Probe Owners Club. Not the greatest accomodations but unless you want over 170 a night on the shore middle of summer then that's what you have to get.

To answer questions:

Bar afterwards: The bar I am headed to is not in Seaside. It's in Point Pleasant Beach on the boardwalk- a much NICER/cleaner and safer area, and not a place you need to worry about your car. They have rate lots that I belive go for $5-$10 for the night after 9. I can double check. The lots are very easy to get into and spaces are big. There is also FREE street parking 1 block off the beach if you are lucky enough to find it. The Nerds are a huge band in NJ and it could be SUPER crowded that night!


Mini Golf: There is a SERIOUS mini golf place in Seaside Hights on the strip off the boardwalk where all the clubs are. It's 18 holes with huge waterfalls/caves/etc. HOWEVER for a less sleezy atmosphere - in Point Pleasant Beach there is another AWESOME mini golf place that is less than a year old just steps across the boardwalk from the bar I plan on stationing myself at that night.

My suggestion... if you plan on going out after the beachy stuff and are worried about your car or not one for Sleazeside. Stick to Point Pleasant, it's 20 minutes north of seaside, about 5 minutes from my house. It's not nearly as trashy as Seaside, still has a boardwalk, still has games, food bars, minigolf etc.... A little less crowded. The major difference is it's MUCH smaller and does not have the strip to cruise on, so it's totally up to you.

I have a post in here with some hotels listed. The hotels in Seaside are really trashy and expensive. You'd have better luck staying away from the shore. Towns to look in:
Toms River, Point Pleasant, Brick, Howell... some of them are 20-30 min away but it would be worth a little nicer place.

I'll see if I can find anything else, but things are booking FAST.

I agree, but good luck finding a reasonable hotel nearby the beach that isn't booked.. :-\ You're best bet at this point is looking like the Econo in Lakewood. It's kind of dumpy, but there are rooms open and it's under $170 a night. Like $120ish. The HoJo in Toms River is booked as of today. The Holiday Inn in TR is up to $180 a night from $150 2 weeks ago. Book now is my suggestion if your gonna do it! A LOT of places are full already.

The hardest part of putting rotors on is jacking up the car and taking off the wheels. Once they are off, it should take 5 mins max for each rotor and have the wheel back on.

Thanks Mark, I almost forgot about Louie, he hasn't posted in a while. I just called him and gave him the details, in his words, "hell yeah, put me down." He's been busy with work and his SC project, just as I thought, that's why he hasn't been posting.

As for Bryan (oneflayasianguy) I tried calling his number and somebody picked up saying I got the wrong number. So I guess he changed it. :( He's notorious though for not posting at all, yet still showing up to meets, so I think he's lurking and he'll probally come if he's not busy. For anyone that is interested and wants to see it up close ... I will probably have one of Dooly's fully LED modded (including blinkers) & TRD center tach converted gauge clusters with me @ the meet. I have it on loan from him (thanks, Sean) to troubleshoot the center console light dimming failure. Which, I believe I have done and this one should be repaired:D Sean has been kind enough to let me hang onto it for the meet. I'm not sure if I'll have it installed... if I have the time to try it out.. I will ...and will leave it in for the meet:

Since we now less than 2 weeks and counting til this meet, I need all the MA, NH, VT, CT, etc people that want to join in the caravan I am setting up to PM me some info. I will need your location (town and state) and your cell phone number (in case you are running late or something). It would be a good idea to BE AT MOORESTOWN MALL AND LEAVE BY 11am, if we plan to make it there by or around 1pm. (The map calls for a 1hour 19min drive, but during the summer on a Saturday morning, things will be a little more hectic; so im giving us and extra 40 minutes to be safe.)
