if you guys are faint of heart don't read on...
so it was Saturday the 30th of may and i had left my friends graduation party after helping clean up (since they woulda had to pay $250 if they were there after 12) and headed towards my best friend's house. i arrived and parked my car on the street in front of it, because his driveway was too steep and i would scratch my body kit and exhaust. i leave my car in 1st gear like i always do with the parking break on and go inside and we hang out, me him and his older brother. we ate some leftover chips from the party and were drinking one of the 2 liters of coke and then styarted to play some old school Halo 1 campaign, because my friends brother was going to sleep. we were not but 2 minutes into the first level and were heard a god awful CRASH. i looked outside my window and my car was gone... and it was replaced by a big streek of water going down the hill. i was like "holy $**t i think my parking break gave out"..."wait i keep it in first OH $**T". i ran outsides his door and down his driveway to see my baby about 40 feet down the street in fron of the neighbors house with the hood smashed up and the headlight busted and a LOT of radiator fluid mising. some drunk ******* going 50 through a neighborhood in a light colored seburban smashed in the front of my celica.... AND DROVE AWAY. he F***ING FLED. of course my friend and his brother both got their cars and spead off looking, my friend in his jeep and his brother in his mustang GT. my friend's brother said he saw the very back of the car at the stop sign for a split second and said it was an SUV type car. we called the cops and considering it ws about 1 AM in Atlanta he showed up in under 10 minutes (wow) he made a report and said that if any car that had damage like that one should with my color paint on it was put into shop they would know and arrest him. so now my car sits in the lot of a local garage that is going to give me an estimate on how much it will cost to fix, which will determine if it is totaled or not...
a list of what i could visibly see (and maybe pictures later)
front hood: bent up in the middle and can't real open more than 6 inches
front bumper: bent in with plent of scrathes and paint missing
front right light: totaly smashed
radiator: bent inwards, cap blew off
headers: big dents in each
alternator: smashed (along with the new pulleys i put in)
front right fender: bent back a bit so door cant open
suspension in front right: seems damaged somehow because the front right is lowered about and inch more than the car normaly was
transmision: IDK but i know i can shift out of first into neutral and thats it (me and my friend just installed a short throw shifter from B&M (reverse was hard to get into FYI, REALY hard)) and i just put in a new clutch plate and resurfaced flywheel earlier in the week.
everything inside the car looked fine and all the glass was intact and the airbags didn't go off so hopefuly my car won't be considered totaled and we will get some money to repair it.
the only good thing is that i was planning on geting a new hood and headers etc eventualy to build up the performance and looks and was going to repaint the front fender and hood because of small paint scratches. the bad thing is i will not have my OEM parts and that a F***ING DRUNK PERSON HIT MY CAR!!!
there is my sad story... will post pictures later...

:chuckles:
Sucks to hear about that man. I hope they find the as$hole that did it. Just to help ease your mind regarding the tranny, it's entirely possible that something in the engine bay is in the way of the shifting mechanism there. Also, I don;t think the airbags will deploy if your car has been off for a few minutes. When I took mine out I seem to remember that you had to leave the car off for a few minutes so it wouldn't blow

He prolly missed the 2 and hit the 3. The 20th was just this last Saturday.
I'm really sorry Emeralds, don't blame yourself for anything though. You wanted to preserve your bodykit and exhaust so at the time there was no immediate threat on the street to your knowledge.

Damn man... sorry to hear. Similar thing happened to me a while ago. Hopefully your story pans out better.
A pizza man parked next to my car while delivering a pizza nearby and left his keys in the ignition with the car running and the doors unlocked. Some jackass decided to take his car for a joy ride. In trying to escape, he hit my passenger side quarter panel and wheel, while my car was parked mind you. F.cked it up.
So yeah. My insurance company was saying the driver of the car is responsible, since he was negligent and left his keys in the car running. His insurance company initially said no he wasn't at fault since he wasn't driving the car, and that they insure the car, not the driver. Okay, well the car they insured, hit my parked car, what's the issue? Then they changed their story to his policy doesn't cover him while he delivers pizza, and he is to be put under Dominos policy that they are required to have on their drivers. Dominos then says no, since they are franchised, thus not directly owned by Dominos that it is the drivers responsibilty to carry his own insurance.
So who is at fault and who is going to pay for the repairs of the damages caused to my parked car? Dominos for letting someone drive for them who doesn't have proper insurance? Nope. The driver whose stupid ass left the keys in a running, unlocked car and whose policy won't cover him while delivering? Nope. The individual who stole his car? It's partly his fault too, but they'll never catch him.
Me. I'm at fault appearantly and have to cover the cost of repair. Basically I paid the $500 deductible, never got re-imbursed from either insurance company because both companies refused to litigate over it, and my rates went up. Wow... I love insurance companies. F.cking asses...
sorry to hear, my boss had her car hit by some drunker while she parked, her insurance paid her and didn`t raise her monthly fee

im guna go get the pics off the camera now and put um on my network so i cn show ya. and we got the estimate back of about how much it will cost... 15000, dunno if it is guna be called totaled. and yes i accidentaly hit the 3 instead of the 2 sry. and i wasn't to blame i parked as far over as i could and i was a good 40 feet from the top of the hill, and since it is property damage it is a 250 ded, and my rates won't go up. brb with pics
also it is a bad habit of mine to say headers instead of just header.my bad

Sorry to hear your plight.
But on the bright side, you or someone you cared about was not in the car at the time it happened... so, at least that is a plus, and your car can be repaired I sure also. I have seen a number of what I would have assumed were total loss cars, only to see some one at a body shop pull off the sheet metal and in a week or so and have it back better then it was. As a testiment, I had a 91 Miata MX-3 that colided (the other driver cut me off from the center lane) a volvo, it was interesting, the volvo was flat bedded out (looked like a wreaking ball hit it) and I drove my mazda home (be it with a trashed hood, finder, headlight, bumper and had to use the emer spare since the wheel and the tire were also wiped out)... I got home and looked at it in the garage (it went to the body shop the next day) and it looked like a total write off... I mean it looked like the front 1/3 of the car was gone...I went by the body shop a few days later... the front end was stripped down to the frame and engine, all new parts were in and being painted, and the guy said, "yeh it looked bad, but you didn't have any unibody damage, and everything else we can replace... to if the frame is good, your good..." a couple days later I got my car, and I couldn't tell it had every been in an accident... and I didn't have any issues with insurance, since it was at the fault of the other driver (three witnesses and a ticket to him for improper lane change) so no increase in insurance and they sued his insurance for the damage.
So, hang in there, it may look bad now, but it's a mechanical thing, so it can be fixed good as new... just be glad your not in the hospital from someone hitting you in the car... we can always replace/lose a car, but we can't replace the driver/passengers.
God Bless, and speedy recovery to the Celi.

Yea wow that is pretty ugly there...
But on looking it doesn't look like you engine, or front wheels got moved back from the impact, and it also doesn't look like your airbags deployed, what it looks like to me is most of the real damage is all the plastic and light metal stuff upfront and in the engine compartment got crushed between the engine and the other car... so being that is the case, I think you will be ok... if you had the car around I would say take a tape measure and measure the wheel base from the center front to back on each side, if you come up with a different number on one side over the other you got bent, if you are the same (and they are to spec) you are golden... I think you just are seeing crumple (sp?) zones at there finest... my miata looked pretty much the same on the whole passengerside, the drivers not so much... and turned out ok... keep us posted.

i know there is a little bit of suspension damage cuz the front right of the car is a little bit lower. when i looked at my springs and dampers everythnig seemed straight. my dad said maybe the A- arm is bent or something like that. if you could clarify what it is called because im prety sure i know what he was talking about. in the down time for my car i am putting in new speakers for my dad's jaguar and then we are going on a planned vacation, so plenty of time to get it fixed and maybe i sohuld get the new header and cf hood i wanted to buy =P. im hopeful now thanks for your insight. thanks to everyone else for their sympathy. i will be sure to post pics of her when she gets her reconstructive surgery

ya i went to check on it today and the front bumper fell off... ...lol... don't fret, that is only on with a couple of bolts... really I think you are ok, if the engine was in the front seat and the glass was broken I would say, it's gone... but, the front end is supposed to do that... it is just compressed... note your headlights are ontop of the engine... not where the engine used to be... so again, I think you just have everything betweent he engine and the bumper squished up and out... again you would be amazed with what they can do to that... they are going to strip off all that stuff... pull on the frame if need be... which it looks like they won't have too at all... hech my miata was tiny and it kiled a volvo... so I know the japanese build them tough... that frame didn't have any damage... just the stuff around it...which they replaced.. so for all practical purposes it was never in a accident... I bet your situation will be the same... go enjoy the vacation, and when you get back it will be good as new.

i know what car restorers can do. my uncle used to restor cars and now he builds race cars (not nascar the real kind, than turn left and right). hopefuly i will be able to put a little more money in and purchase a few more parts that i was going to get down the road anyway and save the labor cost. the part of my car i am most worried about is the transmission because liek i said i was parked and had 1st gear in. in a best case it would just need to be tweaked back into place and get everything straightened back out. i know my clutch should be fine because i just replaced it a week ago.

well guys its official my car is totaled. on closer inspection by the insurance guy and the mechanic the transmission casing was cracked along with the estimate which brought it close to the price. so my car is gone officialy. i want to retrieve my exhaust, suspension, tires, and wheels before they ship it out =/
