after the shop installed them, i drove on the highway back. i couldnt believe how much the steering wheel shook. the next day i got an alignment. and it was still bad. do i need a wheel and tire balance??? i just had my 60k check up 2000 miles ago. can the wheels get affected from changing struts??? or do i just need another wheel and tire balance to fix the problem?? or the last problem would be if they put them on wrong :ugh: ...help

thanks

balance could be off...but they would have been shaking before if the balance was off. I would say that something is off from the install...take it back to the shop and have tell them the problem..they should look it over for free if they are a decent shop.

yeah, a correct install on struts shouldn't produce any vibration in the steering wheel.

I did my own GR-2 and didn't have one problem.

how could you mess up installing struts? isnt it a pretty straight foward thing what to do??

When you're messing with or changing anything that has to do with the suspension or connecting of your axle's/wheels/etc... it is easy to be able to throw something off that will cause any number of problems...one of the most common being shaking. A balancing probably won't do anything because if your wheels/tires were off balance then they would have been shaking before the install. And if a realignment didn't do anything then I would take it back to the shop, tell them the problem, and tell them to look over the install and make sure everything is installed correctly...and have them test drive it before they return it to you.

Switch your rear wheels to the front. If the steering wheel still shakes, then it's your alignment.

Loosen all of your lugnuts and then re-tighten them to 80lbs.....also make sure that they are all tight.
