i've been having weird sounds lately. anytime i go over anything like a speed bump or a slight ditch, it sounds like the chasis is flexing. like bending of metal, its hard to explain, but i think a couple of u have experienced this. The sunroof control rattles in the cold mornings. there's sound coming from the moonroof itself when its closed. i drive the car moderately hard... and i've had it since september of 2001.... so like 8 months? its practically a new car, and its really bothering me. I dont street race or go autocrossing, so it shouldnt be that bad either.

what should i do? have them try to fix it? what have u guys done? i really need help cuz i paid a lot for this car and after 8 months im really worried. These sounds starting popping up around february? thanks in advance.

ps- i still love the celica to death, but im worried about build quality....the more i drive this i feel that toyota has spent more time trying to reaffirm their reputation of good build quality when i think they are slacking off...

sorry for the book.... but 20k was a lot of money for me.. hope u understand.

mine was due to my rear swaybar. Try jacking the car up and check your rear swaybar at the very end links near the wheeks. Move it up and down pretty hard. I need to replace mine when i go home.

OK i think this is pretty common for ALMOST ALL celicas. I had a GT before i had my GT-S and the GT did the EXACT same thing ... in the same area!:( I have seen in the past some common complaints about this. I think one dealer found out that the weld in that area is very flexible, but made to do so for some reason. Have not heard it in my GT-S yet ... but i expect that i will maybe in the future. Its not fallin apart.

can someone post with their problems so i dont feel so crappy? if tons of people have this problem than i guess i'll just bite the bullet and get used to it (or get a different car if i cant) im pretty disappointed.... i love the handling and cornering abilities of this car... but im not too impressed with build quality... my friends older gt-s doesnt feel that way tho... it feels more solid and sturdy... mine feels lightweight and weak in comparison

I have the same DAMN problem!!! Mine sounds like a hard clicking noise coming from the right rear suspension. Everytime i go over bumps or driveways i hear a knock.. or maybe a few knocks.. I'll check out that rear sway bar thing you're talking about.. but I think if i take it into toyota they're going to blame it on the aftermarket suspension (B&G Coilover setup).

NSX_GTR_LM, did you say you have to replace the sway bar? or the thing that attaches the sway bar to the rest of the car? (i.e. the part w/ that little thin pole w/ connections that move like a joystick).

Its really annoying.. i wanna do anything i can to get of that noise.. please help!

Hey Chiznarles keep me posted on this one. I'll check it out this weekend, but ever since I installed my TRD springs, I'm also getting clicking noises from the back.

i have a stock suspension.... its not that its knocking anything.. it sounds like the chasis is flexing.... like when u hear plastic bend, it kinda sounds like that... i dont have knocking.... i could be the sway bar flexing, but it really feels like the chasis is making the sound..... and i hate it.

Noises from the rear of the car: could possibly be due to the hatchcover rattling against the plastic rails. The outer edges of mine will bang a little bit over bumps... but it sounds fairly obvious. You can rattle the cover and easily emulate the sound. I noticed there were a couple soft strips attached to the bottom of the hatch cover that have been compressed over time.
