need some help!

My friend got a 2000 Prelude (automatic) and it just flooded outside and it went into the muffler and i got the car to start but i cant shift to Drive. It stays stuck in parking!! anyone got some ideas to make this thing go in gear? i also see a check engine light and the D2 gear is flashing...

If it's automatic, there should be some sort of manual override for the shifter. In auto Celicas, it's concealed underneath a removable panel right next to the "P" position. Regardless of whether or not there was damage this SHOULD enable you to shift out of park.
