ok im kind of confused here... what is the big difference between these 2 shifting techniques?
rev matching :
press the clutch down -> tap on the gas pedal -> shift into the lower gear -> let go of the clutch -> press on gas to accelerate
double clutching:
press the clutch down -> shift out of gear -> let go of the clutch -> tap on the gas pedal -> press the clutch down -> shift into lower gear -> let go of the clutch -> press on gas to accelerate
is that right??? sometimes theres car in front of me that slow down and i have to downshift or when im taking a turn.. which technique is better to use?? ive only been driving my manual gts for about a little over a week now...
which method will be a good way to downshift while entering and exiting a turn?? or which method will be good when the cars in front of me slow down and i have to downshift to speed up again?

please use the search function.. anyone that knows anything about this is exhausted from the last round conversation that we went through about this topic. anyway .. a crude search would give you this:

Yeah,
Simply,
you use rev match to save your synchro life...
Double clutchin is when you are huggin tite corners or turns...
Both shall save your synchro life a bit... i use rev match typically when i race, and have to shift it down to 2nd and tryin to getta betta pull...

what would happen if you were in neutral, clutch not pushed in, and you rev the engine, say to 5000 RPMs (lets say you are moving). then while still holding the revs at 5000 rpms, you push the clutch in and shift to 2nd gear (you are going the speed of 2nd gear at 5000 rpm). then you let go of the clutch (going into 2nd), then taking off. this would be like a double clutch AND rev match, right?
and one thing: does rev matching use up more gas, since you are blipping the throttle? im guessing yes, since i can hear the engine being loud when i blip the throttle to rev match (and i have to use a quick high pressure "punch" to the gas to get it to rev up quickly).

common guys.. read the linked thread.. it has answers to all your questions... stop being lazy and learn something.

i read it, and learned something. although it did not address my fuel economy question. but it is pointless, so forget it! ill just stick to rev-matching, and save double clutching to impress my passengers (since its really pointless)

More revs = more fuel being injected, so yes :)

i had this argument about more revs = more fuel injected... its not entirely true...
when the engine is pushing on the wheels then yes you are correct... when the wheels are pushing the engine.. the reason the engine is at 4K isnt b/c you're pressing the gas pedal but b/c thats how fast the engine has to go to keep up with the wheels.
thats why they call it engine braking.. you use the tires to do work (turn the engine) and overcome friction in the engine which slows down the tires.
unfortunately i lost the argument cause i thought what you thought!

Not sure what you're trying to say. Put it in neutral and rev it to 7k and yes your injectors will be spraying more gas than at idle. That's all I'm trying to say.
