First off, those are VW not Benz, Benz use a magnetic induction key that just goes in a rectangle slot. As far as it working.. you'd have to tell us what alarm you have and we might be able to figure it out

Benz used to use those style keys as well (2003 SLK230 has one). As far as getting your existing remote entry system to work with that fob, I guess it would work if the new fob and old receiver work on the same frequency.

Hmm. didn't know that. I know all the ones we deal with at work just have the rectangle key.

those keys are a pain in the ass, my dad has one and i think it's crap, just not handy.
Give me a normal key any day (or the new Suzuki key)

My mom's Benz 01 SLK320 has that key as well, it's not just VW. I love those keys.

I'm sure the blade will work, but I think he's talking about the remote. I don't have my factory remote with me as I've installed an aftermarket alarm, but somewhere on the remote or the instructions should tell you what frequency range the remote works in. I think if the receiver on the car and the new remote have an overlapping range, it should be possible to program the new remote to the car.
Now, I'm not alarm guy, this is just an educated guess.
