My concern in lowering my car is the effects that will have on the body kit. I plan to put the full Trial kit on with the 18

TRD drop should do it. I dont think you will get as much performance as you would out of something like the tein or hotckis, but TRD is a nice drop.

As for what I would do, I would say get just the TRD springs. See if you are satisfied. If you are not satisfied, then get just the Hotchkis springs. If that is ok or too low, then you know where you need to go.

The reason I say stay away from the teins is because what if you are too low with the teins, and then you have just spent 1300 on some coilovers that you are gonna have to eat mad cost be reselling them. There will always be someone that wants to buy TRD and Hotchkis springs, so you wouldn't lose much there. Just get one set of springs only, then you can get the shocks or decide on teins or whatever after you see just how close you are.

man, don't worry about it. you've got two coilover sets and a spring set in that list. TRD is great, and I vouch for them, but coilovers are adjustable. if i remember right, both are adjustable pretty close to stock height.

I have heard that the coilovers can be further lowered from their 1.8inch drop but can not go any higher than their 1.8 inch drop. This would be to low.

But if anyone can give me a clear answer as to how high the coilovers can go e.g. can I do a 1inch drop with TEIN's or Hotchkis? I'll go with coilovers.

Anyone with one of these setups please let me know how high you can set the coilovers? Can you get close to stock height?

Thanks!

i dont know how high the teins go, but the hotchkis are a fixed drop at 1 3/8 front and 1 7/8 rear

You can't raise them back to stock height with the TEINs, you're either low or REALLY low. The strut bodies are shortened in comparison to stock. Your other option would be to go with Ground Controls, and some Konis.

With the way that front lip sticks way out like a shovel, it's gonna be digging up a lot of pavement and concrete on inclines, driveways and speedbumps with the TEIN setup. It'll prolly even do that with the TRD setup, as I know my friends scrape their WW lips (TRD equipped) quite frequently if they aren't careful.

If you really want the kit you just have to make some adjustments to your driving and accept that it's gonna take a beating when you take the car some places. I'm careful as hell and my front end is still chewed up underneath... if it gets bad enough I'll just have it repaired.

I have the TRD springs and they seem allright. I mean performance wise they are primo --- BUT if it is a nice drop you are looking for -- the Hotchkis seem like the perfect drop. I have some tire/well gap with the TRD --- but they do give the car an overall better stance -- In the city you are never going to get around all obstacles -- With the TRD setup you may not eat as much pavement as with a Hotchkis setup. As far as the TIEN setup -- I cannot give you accurate info. If the wheel/fender gap is your main concern though, you may be in luck.
You stated you were riding on 18 inches. You also stated you were located in the metro area. The Celica calls for 35 series tires w/ 18's - most likely to keep the speedometer in calibration. If you got a little meatier tire 40 or 45 it would chew up more of the gap and give you a lower APPEARANCE w/ the TRD springs. Sorry for rambling hope that helps.

ive got ground controls all the way down in the front, almost 3" drop and the back evened out to match the front with a blitz front... i have about 2 1/2 inch clearance, i scrape **** occasionally, but its all about style :)
