hey guys I got a ? for you.. Ive noticed that most GT owners paint the plastic piece that says VVTi on it over your valve cover to dress up the engine bay. Well at Carlisle saturday I saw something different. The GT owner took that plastic piece off and actually powdercoated the valve cover. It looks like a GTS, I was confused when I saw it becuase its the first time Ive seen that plastic piece removed. How come more GT owners dont do this??
On a side note the company that powdercoated my valve cover for my Eclipse will be a site sponsor very soon and they have reasonable pricing on powdercoating valve covers, especially if you send it to them.. Keep an eye out in General Discussion for the new sponsor announcement soon..

That's what Ive been planning to do. The problem is I need the car everyday, so I can't take out my valve cover to get it painted.....unless if I buy another one(if its cheap) then I can get it done and still use my car.

i was wondering with all those platics in the engine bay.. doesnt the engine bay get hella hot? plastics i know arent the greatest things when heated..... (i've microwaved quite a few of my sisters barbies before)..... is that where the cracks are from? could be the heat... im starting feel funny about my car..

The covers on the GT are not plastic at all...at least not the ones over the intake manifold and the valve cover. They are some type of Carbon material that resists heat like a mother fuker. lol I really wish that damn valve cover and intake manifold on my car was a pretty as the GT-S...makes me so jealous...yet less jealous when I beat a modded 6speed in the 1/4 :D
Nevermind, i'm still jealous no matter what!

i like the plastics. makes the engine look so clean. i donno. getting rid of the plastic valve cover looks wierd since you still have the plastic manifold. is that a cover that can be removed? i didn't think it was...
i agree, i like the plastics too. so fresh, so clean. i wouldn't want to take off the valve cover and polish it to make it look like a gt-s cuz my car isn't a gt-s.

Already had my valve cover chromed and plished looks just like the one in the Super Street March 2002 issue with Red Dragon on the cover. By the way it looks great.

I like the plastics how they are. I prefer the engine bay to look as clean as possible.

i have considered polishing mine. It looks like it will be easier than my integ's was. I could probably do it in a couple of days. It's kinda small though.
