View Full Version : Thinking about hitting the track with the new header & short block

As some of you may remember, I got a new short block a few weeks back under warranty. I also put the header in this week. I'm thinking about taking it to the track and seeing what it will do. The only problem is I still have a CEL problem ever since I got the new short block so I'm not sure if this will hinder my performance. The motor seems to be running pretty strong though so I'm optomistic about the performance aspect. The only pain in my ass is I gotta put my 15s back on to race. Pain in my butt. My stock 15s weigh 35 lbs each. My 17s weigh 41 fokkin lbs. Gonna do it though.

Wish me luck~ :p

Oh yeah, second problem is my s-afc is not installed at the moment. My dealer requested I remove it so they can fix my CEL problem. I have an appointment this Wednesday for them to fix it. But I'm so anxious to get up on it at the track, so.. :D

I fixed my CEL by wiggling all the connecting to my CAI (especially the cooling tube) then disconnecting the battery for 20 mins to let the ecu reset.

did you try this??????????????

outta curiosity, u said that fixed it.. how long has the CEL been off since.. cuz usually just resetting the battery does it unless its a real bad problem.. like for example..if your car shoots on misfire then the CEL comes on.. even though your car could be runnin perfectly fine the CEL comes on, so you reset the ecu and it fixes the problem..

I don't think it has anything to do with the bolt ons I have. This CEL problem started ever since I got the new short block. It's a VVTi code and it goes away every time I reset my battery. Though it comes back after about 15-20 miles of driving. Seems to run fine though.

Did a 15.008 @ 91.86 mph. Not too shabby. Check general discussions to see the thread I started.

I had two funny ass races against a Toyota Echo. I couldn't believe it when I saw it at the track. I didn't realize they also had a 1ZZ engine!? Do Echos have the exact 1ZZ-FE? Same head and everything? LOL because he was slower than ****... he ran like 17s but the funny part was he was doing big ass burn outs HAHAH! I'm not sure if he had drag radials, but they weren't stock rims. Anyway, both times I swear the guy was like 3 bus lengths behind me. Now I know how those guys in old ass American cars

ah, he's running what i should've run. i ran 16.8 @ 84 but didn't have time for more runs.

BTW, just noticed your sig, that looks hella cool! imagine seeing that coming up in your rearview...IT'S A MONSTER DEVIL CELICA.
