I came across this... i know there is member on this board doing this with darton wet sleeves

But my question is the the stock water pump good enough for this? because most kits for other cars say they have to buy a differnt pump....

Also toyota cars must use the toyota coolant but the kit says to use Evans NPG+... Is this okay for our cars or you can use the stock coolant?

Example LS1:

[B]Note: The Darton kit effectively converts the block to a wet sleeve configuration as used on diesel engines. One cannot expect the original cooling system to effectively cool an engine producing two or more times the power of the original engine, along with a modified cylinder arrangement. Darton requires

The cooling system performance and the wet sleeves are two separate issues.

If you want to run around a road course at 2-3x the stock power level (regardless of your sleeve type) you may very well need to upgrade the cooling system, especially adding an oil cooler and probably a better radiator. The 2zz water pump is pretty good.

If you want to drive on the street, in the mountains, or drag race the stock cooling system seems to be up to the task.

I am not a proponent of the Evans stuff. That definitely DOES require upgrade of the water pump and radiator with debatable improvement to cooling performance. Oh, and there is no higher flowing 2zz water pump.

yup - stock pump is great. If you're worried about flow just put a smaller pulley on it and overdrive it.

The 1ZZ pumps a bit crappy though - the 2ZZ pump would be a good upgrade to the 1ZZ if it fits.
