as i replied earlier in MSR27's post about the HIN pics ..there is no such thing as a 2zzg"T"e motor..unless they think that adding the "t" in their is for turbo...its a nice lookin car!!! damn imagine the 1/4 times on that rwd..weight reduction..turbo...and the 2ZZ in it! i envy those with money

i have a question though, why the hell did they change to a 2zz, and then lower the compression to 10:1. They could have just done the engine work on the 1zz. Does anyone know why

Prolly cause of the better r/s ratio, cylinder walls, and oh yea the head :)

Good point. If they dropped compression, you figure they'd at least drop it to 9.5:1. However, LOTS of showcars do impractical things like this just to be different. Another explanation is that their webmaster simply doesn't know anything about cars and called it a 2zz by mistake.

ever heard of 2zz lift ?
NSX_GTR_LM
05-08-2002, 08:13 AM
regardless of lift, i think keyshawn is right. You dont need lift if you are runnin mad boost with low compression.

And i still think that with just the cost of the engine, let alone the swap PLUS engine work, they could have made the 1zz alot better. Regardless, thats alot of power for a spyder, and i hope it never gets driven in the canyons :)

The 2ZZ GE also has oil squirters for each piston to keep the top of the piston cool..helps prevent detonation which could be a problem. :-)

here you go, i may be wrong here but this looks like the Veilside Turbo for the MRS, if that is true its a 1ZZ unless its a different kit or RJ had something fabricated...

then why run mad boost? just run low boost on high compression and get the same power numbers.
lift = aggressive cam profile = more air
also, the timing maps for 6000+rpm are aggressive, and they aren't aggressive for under 6000rpm. you need to do some serious remapping to make power without lift.

2zz has the toyota GE head as well, its designed for higher performance then the FE head. As for the 2zz-gte, we're just mucking with toyota engine codes. Turbo'd 3s-ge is the 3s-gte, turbo'd 7m-ge is the 7m-gte, turbo'd 2jz-ge is the 2jz-gte, get my drift? Sure, there's is no 2zz-gte that comes from the factory, but slap an aftermarket turbo on there and you could definately call your engine a 2zz-gte. Plus, is it really that big a deal? Are you gonna call me for it if I preferred to call my engine "Cindy" or "Butta Cakes"?

Just a point of interest about that yellow mister 2.
Thats a 1ZZ-FE NOT a 2ZZ-GE
I know the guy that owns the car. He WAS considering the 2ZZ-GE but decided not to do it because it was going to be too much of a pain in the arse trying to fab up new shift cables for the C60 Trans and the C59 bell housing won't mate up with a 2ZZ block. I told him he should put a 3S-GTE in it but I think he decided that would be too much re-fab as well. The turbo on the 1ZZ was a nice clean elegant solution
Come to think of it I don't know anyone thats managed to successfully turbo or supercharge a 2ZZ and get any kind of power - its just too hard to work your way around the engine logic running the VVTLi

There's more to a GTE engine then just slapping on a turbo to a GE engine. Look at the 7MGE and the 7MGTE for instance.

Totally true. For one thing the bottom end on the GTE motors are usually HELLA stout.

The T in the Toyota engine name quite literally means turbo charged. I see nothing wrong with calling it a 2zz-gte, 1zz-fte, etc
