I mounted my AFC in the compartment above the radio. My brother dremmeled out a hole and I'm using door moulding around the hole to clean up the look of the mount. I'm having a little trouble cutting the door moulding to fit exactly the way I want it to, and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions That I should try as an alternative. I was thinkin' a rubber moulding, but I guess any material will do , and as long as it covers the edges of the cut hole it would do. Something flexible enough to make right angles cleanly....

I need something flexible to wrap around the rough edges of the cutout... any suggestions? Any body shop people out there have any ideas?

one thing is that you should make sure its sitting at a right angle and not flush mounted with the outside surface... cause outherwise it would be laying down too much and you'll get major glare..
it might be hard to find a rubber molding that can do that tight a 90 degree bend... obviously if that happens then you can cut separate pieces for each of the sides...

man you really should have removed that panel before hacking it like that, all that **** in your cd player :(
Also the door panel comes off nice and easy which will make it a lot easier to mark out and work on.

i say .. clean up the hole .. maybe make it a little bigger ... smoke a piece of plexi glass and rivet or somehow mount it to the hole .. and just have the afc sitting behind opening .. maybe don't even smoke the plexi glass .. just my opinion

Sheesh... this is why I don't post some questions, little to no constructive criticism... Jus' people telling me what I did WRONG! :thumbdown First of all... The cutting is NOT off center, the picture is, that is also a picture of the FIRST INITIAL CUT. Obviously that is NOT the final finished cut. Second of all, I attempted to remove the door before cutting, but instead of accidentally breaking the door hinge (which I felt was going to happen) I jus' left the door on.... If anyone has anything that can ADD to the subject please do....
I was writing this while 1zz-fe celica's post went up... Thank you 1zz for the suggestion. When I DO get the trim done, I will post pix...

go to kragen or something and pick up some door trim ... like the stuff that goes over the edge of your door... it's something like a dollar for a few feet.
should work fine for what you want to do.
Hope that "added to the subject" ;)

Yeah, that's the stuff I've got now (as it stands it's already mounted in there w/some door trim) I guess I just have to take a little time and make sure I cut it correctly. I was just wondering if there was any other product I could use that I didn't think of. Thank you for adding to the subject! :D

well you could probably like, sand it off and smooth it out and use some kinda bondo or something to get real smooth round edges, then paint the center console. but i take it you aren't doing that or you would have already...
i like the window idea.
