i took my car in for an oil change today and then i left and went to my audio shop to have them check out my dvd player. on my way out of the shop i notice my blitz front bumper has a huge gash on on the outter corner of the passenger side lip. its around 4inches long and goes straight to the fiberglass. i ran straight back to the dealer and told them one of the people that drove my car hit something. the guy i spoke to told me to goto their body shop down the street and get an estimate. so i get there and the old bastard tries to blame it on me and says that nuts and bolts are missing from everywhere (one bolt was missing) and that my whole front clip is made of bondo. what a stupidass!?!? he wouldnt even give me an estimate and tells me to go back to the dealer and put my car on the lift and have them look at how messed up it is. so i go back to the dealer again and speak to the same guy and hes just being a middle man and not blaming me or the dealer since theres no proof of who did what. i asked to see which lift they used to do my oil change to see if there was any paint left and they took me to the alignment lift since its what they used for lowered cars and cars with body kits but no sign of any paint.

all in all i just wanted to know who fawked up my car! but nobody could admit to doing it. the manager of the service department wouldnt even speak to me. they called the body shop again after i had told them the guy was a prick to me and he offered to redo my front bumper completely next week for $250. screw that! i know it wasnt my fault because it had to have happened between leaving right after the oil change and getting to the audio shop and its just a 10min drive down the smooooooth street... no bumps or anything. and anyone with a lowered car or body kit KNOWS what it sounds like to bottom and you would've had to hit something big to make a gash this big on my bumper.

sorry for the long post but had to vent.

any suggestions? i'm gonna contact toyota of america because this is the second time they've messed up my car (first time they didnt secure the under body panels after an oil change and i lost them and the passenger side fender wall on the highway).

thanks guys!

Same thing happened to me.

First let me say this is not toyota's fault it's the dealer. There done.

Go back and ask to speak to the Service Manager. They should help you. Especially considering the short time frame for this to occur. If they dont help then go to the General Manager of the dealership. Then after all that go to Toyota of America.

Also remember it doesn't matter what the **** you have done to the car, if they **** it up they are responsible. If you had a '74 with none of the original body panels and the scratched it up, they are still responsible.

Same thing happened to me too except nothing happened to my blitz front. I took it in cuz my headlight was getting condensation inside of it. They had the car half a day to do that and when I went to pick it up it had a long azz scratch from the headlight to the middle of the wheel well. I didnt even leave the lot yet and I went right back into the service garage and told them. The guy said it was already there and that was BS. I fought with them for a full 2 months before the finally gave in. The only reason they gave in was cuz of a pic I took of my clear bumper lens when I had first installed it. I went to the dealership 1 week after I had installed it so there was no way. I took the pic to the dealership and sat down with the service manager. The pic had the date on it so no arguments there. He then said that they would do the work but he would need to get the okay from the general manager. It took him almost a month to contact me. When they finally agreed to paint the driver side quarter panel it took them a whole week and they gave me an Echo to drive.

Personafied... at least you got it done. they wont even do anything without me having to pay. i was thinking if i took any recent pix of the car but that wouldn't help any i dont think. i'm gonna go back to the dealer tomorrow to speak to the general manager and tell him the service department manager is a prick for not even speaking to me about the problem. but shoot if i get an echo as a rental then im getting full insurance and going rallying in that thing.

I am not sure if all Toyota service places do this but the one I go to does a full walk around of the car first to look for scratches and dings and marks them down before it enters the hands of the "SHOP". If they did this on your cars ask to see it and if its not on there then they have to fix it cause there is your proof that it happened after you dropped it off.

i always follow my car around when it goes to toyota. does no one else do this???? i mean, even for an oil change. i walk into the garage and all and watch them. i mean, i've had guys try and jack the car with a jack they couldn't use on my kit. i also get synthetic oil, which costs twice as much. another reason to watch them. 1 out of 2 times they put regular oil in. i let them finish then told them to change it again.

i'd go in and watch what they're doing, and if anyone gets synthetic, make sure they use it, because they will screw you on that.

Yeah listen to Jotan, I bugged them at least once or twice a week about it. The pic of the car was just fluke. I got it developed and didnt even think about it till I really looked at the pic. You never know about the pic. It helped me out after weekly complaints.
