Measure the battery voltage, with the engine running, while loading with the amplifier.
The battery voltage should be 13.8 - 14.1 VDC for proper charging. It is possible, with a significant electrical load, that the voltage will be less at idle, but within the range while operating at higher rpms.
That may provide an an acceptable solution. That is, the battery will be draining at idle, but charging while driving.

you're most likely not drawing too much power from your amp (singular), but if your wire is getting hot that means your wire is too small and needs to be replaced with a thinker sucker.

hahah, your dash lights flash? What are you running, a couple JBL BP1200.1s? Yeah, a cap could probably solve that problem, as the wire you're using is plenny big.
To answer your original question: 80 amps.
