i went to a subaru dealer to test drive a wrx wagon. man that car felt slugish. real picky about high gears, it would putter for rpms less than 2500. i drive the gts in 5th gear at 1500rpm and it still has pickup. i had trouble with the wrx around the city at 35mph. i found myself needing to be in 3rd gear for similar pickup. on the highway i did 65 - 85 mph in 5th gear.. yeesh, it took forever.

i was under the general assumption that the wrx wagon and sedan have similar performance, because they share the same engine, tranny, turbo, and the wagon weighs only 80lb more. however i checked some performance #s.. the wagon's 0-60 is rated 6.1sec versus sedan's 5.7sec. thats a huge difference.
where does this difference lie?

That is weird. Different aerodynamics maybe? Are they the same gear ratios and everything?

Side note: The wagon is $500 cheaper than the sedan. Go figure.

I though the wagon was like 150 lbs heavier.

It's about 80 lbs heavier

Other differences are shorter front & rear tracks & thinner rear sway bar

The WRX is sluggish below 3000 rpm. Above 3000 rpm when the turbo is finally spooled up, then it goes.

the sedan also has a slightly stiffer frame. I'm not sure why or what componenets make it so, but that is what I read a while back in MT(or soemthing like that mag).

..ok, it still doesnt explain such a big difference in 0-60 times (assuming the website was correct in their information).
