a friend of mine that races a lot tells me that a lot of the celicas at the local raceway tend to misshift into 2nd. ive noticed every now and again if im at higher rpm's and i quickshift into second i misshift sometimes as well. is there a reason for this such as a narrow shift gate or is it lack of experience by local drivers? also if this is a constant problem is there something i can do about it i.e. racing clutch or something like that? any info is appreciated. thx

Lack of experience.

Only way to fix it is by learning how to shift better.

shifting is like sex, you gotta have experience to be good at it.

you can be agressive and hurt your syncros

or you can be like old people and granny shift

i suggest being smooth, fast, land it well, slip the clutch to land lift.

if your landing in lift, you good to go, work on your launch.

i used to launch 5.5K then release clutch accordingly

ima have to relearn my lanch when my lsd, exedy, and fidanza are installed.

good luck, you'll get it

k, ty. someone suggested this to me in the idea of landing in lift so i figured i'd ask here. what about not releasig the gas when shifting into 2nd? the shift is so quick would it hurt anything and is there a benefit?

i belive that will kill your syncros, and it can also grind your gears= not good.

getta short shifter, when your efficient at making it into the shift gate w/out grinding, it shortens the throw

twm is the shortest throw

i heard twm is also the stiffest. is this true and if so can you get used to it pretty quickly?

i bet it is, but usually only going into reverse, get the weighted shift knob.

whats with all the space?? :wtf: And if this does happen at the track you will look like a fool because your engine wont be running. So definately dont try anything stupid before you get used to it.
